A Flavorful Journey at Picaro: A Six-Course Indulgence
Dining at Picaro was an experience to remember, with each dish presenting bold flavors, creative execution, and an aesthetically stunning presentation. But beyond the food, what truly made the night special was the electric atmosphere—the staff was full of energy, giving top-tier service while dancing and having fun. It made the whole experience so lively and happening—definitely one of the best dining vibes I’ve ever had!
Duck Pâté
The evening began with a rich and velvety duck pâté, served with crispy onion strings, Kelulut honey, and corn chips. The pâté was incredibly smooth and indulgent, and when paired with the crunch of the chips and the slight sweetness of the honey, it created a perfect harmony of flavors and textures. A fantastic way to start the meal.
Hamachi Kingfish Carpaccio
Next was the Hamachi Kingfish Carpaccio, beautifully plated in a vibrant orange sauce. The fresh, delicate slices of fish were topped with caviar, microgreens, and pickled onions, giving it an elegant balance of umami, citrus, and a touch of brininess. The sauce tied everything together, making it a light yet luxurious dish.
Duck Jamón Bikini (My Favorite!)
The Duck Jamón Bikini was the ultimate showstopper for me! This seemingly simple cheese-covered bread was on another level. The buttery, crispy-yet-soft bread encased rich duck jamón and melted cheese, with a mountain of finely grated cheese on top. Every bite was cheesy, crunchy, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection—I could’ve easily eaten another whole plate. An absolute must-try!
Jerk Chicken Leg
For the fourth course, the Jerk Chicken Leg arrived in all its smoky, spice-rubbed glory, pierced with skewers for a dramatic presentation. The Caribbean-inspired flavors packed some heat, and the grilled lemon added a beautiful tanginess. Paired with a bold, flavorful dipping sauce, the chicken was juicy, tender, and full of depth.
Squid Ink Seafood Paella
Then came the Squid Ink Seafood Paella, a bold and dramatic dish featuring a bed of deep black squid ink rice, topped with an assortment of fresh seafood, including prawns, squid, and mussels. The umami-rich flavors of the squid ink made every bite intensely savory, and the seafood was perfectly cooked. A comforting yet sophisticated dish.
Signature Cheesecake
Finally, dessert was Picaro’s Signature Cheesecake, and it was far from ordinary. Instead of the usual creamy slice, this cheesecake had a golden-brown, crispy exterior with an incredibly smooth, luscious filling inside. Served alongside mini cookies, it was a simple yet indulgent way to end the meal.
Final Thoughts
Picaro didn’t just deliver incredible food, it delivered a whole experience. The staff brought the energy, dancing, making the night feel so happening—it’s truly one of the most fun dining atmospheres ever. Every course was a hit, but if there’s one dish I’d come back for in a heartbeat, it’s the Duck Jamón Bikini—that cheesy, crispy, mouthwatering goodness is unforgettable.

Read morePlease read to the end. I’m going to be really real about this. The food is exactly average. There’s nothing really special about it at all, and if anything, it’s not worth RM250 per pax before tax. Let’s first talk about the food. The duck pate is good, prawns aren’t exactly fresh fresh, but I get it. The appetisers in overall lacks complexity, it’s plain. Lamb shank is on the rather average side for 2 person sharing, and it’s a little plain. Seafood paella had the rice undercooked (not it’s not the rice being crispy on the bottom of the pan, but the rice is actually undercooked, soft on the outside, and still crunchy and raw inside). The cake was nice, but nothing really special. So yes, the food is just alright, really nothing too amazing to talk about. HOWEVER, and this is one colossal HOWEVER, the ambiance, showmanship, experience, and feeling you get for just being there, is out of this world. It’s that feeling like just when you think “yeah that’s about it”, BAM! Something interesting happens. How can one ever feel bored when they serve you shots after shots of drinks on the house? Then there’s the music, if you started partying in the 90s or 00s, you’re going to recognise a lot of legendary songs being played there. Atmosphere is just absolutely incredible. They check on you frequent enough that you feel welcomed, but not enough that makes you want to shut someone up. Everyone is incredibly friendly, like you really feel like you’re partying with your friends kind of friendly. Then there’s the showmanship, I won’t say much here, mainly because I don’t want to ruin the fun for you. In overall, is it a place that I’d bring my friend for REALLY GOOD FOOD? No. However, is it worth every penny? Hell yes. Is it worth to be a “special trip” just to go over? Definitely. Whatever they lacked in the food (bear in mind it’s not bad, just could be more impressive), is compensated by their hospitality and incredible showmanship. Definitely DEFINITELY give it a go. You won’t regret. (Notes: they do have a policy that if the food is not cooked to your liking, they are happy to replace, and if you’re not full by the end, you can request for more food. I just didn’t wanted to exchange anything, so it’s my own...
Read moreFirst of all, I love food. I appreciate good food. And I’m always honest with my feedback and review. I will only post a review if something is extremely good or extremely bad. With that being said, this restaurant is really overrated. If you value the quality of foods served, this is not the place for you. The concept of this bar/restaurant is good but the execution is not really there. Picaro offers 3 options of course menu; 9 courses 6 courses 6 courses for vegetarian
There’s 2 dinner session 6pm to 830pm 9pm to 1130pm
We were there for the first session dinner. The food were served together at the same time for all the diners in that session. If your party is late they won’t wait until all the parties arrived. They will start serving accordingly to their schedule.
6 courses menu will get 3 tapas, 2 mains and 1 dessert. 9 course menu will get 5 tapas, 2 mains and 2 desserts. If you are having 6 course menu, you will have to wait until the people who ordered 9 course menu to finish their tapas course before you can enjoy your main course ( since it will be served at the same time).
We had 6 course menu so in this case we had to wait quite a while in between our last tapas before we can have our main course. This to me is a failure from their part. They shouldn’t make their guests waited so long after the last tapas. They should be serving the people who were having 6 course menu first so the wait wasn’t too long.
I also would like to mention how small their portion was (tapas, main and dessert). The only thing worth mentioning out of the 6 courses we ordered was ceviche of grouper.
The chefs who were working there tried their hard to sell more round of shots which by the way diluted. It taste like water with a hint of tequila. The chefs are not just cooking and serving but also entertainers. They dance and sing to create more hype.
Honestly I would rather spend my money elsewhere than this money grabbing type of restaurant. I don’t mind paying if the quality is there but this restaurant is a...
