This stall is by the road side. There is some space for dining area. Big enough place for 6 tables. Glad to see them using charcoal stoves. We were there about 5 pm and the sun was still quite high. There were not enough shades for the dining area. Ordered a big size claypot rice with salted fish. Came at no time. I like that the salted fish came separately on a small plate. Easier to mash and mix into the rice. A lot of other shops will add in the salted fish and it will be in lumpy pieces, even after mixing up the rice. Overall, the taste was delicious. Portion was enough for 2 pax to share. Ingredients were marinated chicken, chinese sausages, spring onions and optional salted fish. Perfect with a slight burnt crust at the bottom. They have a few options of veg side dishes and soups. Blanched lettuce with oyster sauce topping was crunchy. They also have a few choices of beverages like herbal tea and grass...
Read moreWas looking for a spot near our hotel and found this spot. Uncle has been here for over 30 years specializing one thing only, chicken claypot rice.
We ordered the large chicken claypot rice added normal sized salted fish and normal sized pork sausage. The soup they offered that day he called it “ABC soup” which consisted of chicken feet, carrots and potatoes. And we added an order of Kai Lan for some veggies.
The claypots are cooked over charcoal and that gives it this nice smoky flavor. Chicken was super flavorful and juicy. Had little burnt rice on the bottom which is our favorite. It was soooo good. The soup reminded me of something my parents would make at home. Veggies were surprisingly really well cooked and were delicious.
All seating is outside on plastic stools. We went early so it wasn’t busy but when we left at 7:30pm,...
Read moreTo all KL natives, this claypot rice is so substandard that it's not even worth mentioning. If you have been to Canton you will know this is a BIG FAIL. It wastes the claypot altogether. I wonder why it lacks the unique claypot aroma. And I can't even see chopped green onion or coriander when I open the lid. Just loads of soya sauce, a few pieces of chicken and jasmine rice. A 10 year old child can cook this.
The barley water and herbal jelly drinks, again, are nothing special. The most stand-out part of my meal is how dirty the overall environemnt and plastic soda spoons are. If the food tastes great, I can make a hygiene compromise, but it's just so plain and dull I wonder why would someone even come back into this stall, let alone giving a 2 star or above review. The avg 4.x stars misled me is...
