I got to Malaysia for the first time in my life today and this is the first place I went to after landing just a few hours before I arrived at the restaurant. After seeing a high review on Google, I thought this would be a great place for a first Malaysian meal but it was a complete waste of time and money. Upon sitting down, the waiter placed a bowl of peanuts and hand towels on the table. Not knowing much about Malaysian culture, I used the towel and my mum had no more than five pieces of peanuts. The owner brought the receipt to the counter when I went to pay and saw that this was charged on the bill and asked the cashier why because I wasn’t told this had to be paid. The OWNER very rudely came and said that I should have asked and that this is their culture. She asked if I used the towel and I said yes because I thought it was free as these things in my country are free and she just smirked really rudely. I said I had no way of knowing and if anything the waiter should have said something. She then kept saying that it is their culture, that I should have known and was extremely rude about this to the end. Furthermore, I ordered an egg soup as I’ve been suffering from a stomach problem and it took 45-50 minutes to arrive (and I had to ask three different people for this). I told her how late this simple dish was made and she used the excuse that they were busy and when I pointed out that this was not acceptable she made a snarky comment about it and was not apologetic at all.
I do NOT recommend this place. I overheard another table who had different dishes provided to what they had originally ordered. While the waiters may be nice, the owner is honestly something different. I don’t understand how a business owner can treat and speak to their customers like this IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Absolutely rude. Will not be returning at all. Food was not even good - I deeply regret...

Read moreHakka Restaurant has earned its place as a cherished dinner spot for me, particularly when entertaining overseas guests or hosting large family gatherings. The lively atmosphere, coupled with the extensive menu, makes it an ideal venue for relaxed mealtimes and endless chatter, all while enjoying the refreshing crispness of a Tiger Beer.
The restaurant's menu is a treasure trove of authentic Hakka flavors. It’s a culinary adventure to explore the vast array of options. The sashimi shrimp, for instance, was a standout—fresh and undeniably sweet. Portions are generous, allowing for leisurely dining and savoring every bite. The restaurant’s breezy ambiance complements the dining experience perfectly.
A few must-try dishes that consistently impress include the buttery crab, savory marmite crab, tender steamed Patin fish, and the addictive crunch of stir-fried kuey teow. For a taste of luxury, the single serving shark fin soup is a decadent choice. While the service can be a whirlwind during peak hours, the waitresses are efficient and manage the bustling crowd admirably.
Hakka Restaurant is more than just a dining spot; it’s a place to gather, enjoy delicious food, and create lasting memories. I wholeheartedly recommend it and look forward to many more visits...
