Update: Jipinhe reached out to me immediately after spotting my review and feedback and have assured me they will investigate my experience thoroughly.
I am impressed with their response and diligence. The representative was polite throughout the conversation and offered an explanation on why the chicken meat is so pink.
According to Jipinhe, “all our chicken filling are marinated in herb and spices for more than 48hours so it remains pinkish colour even after baked for 20mins with temperature of 240 d.c. it’s totally safe to consume ❤️”.
“The dough inside was slightly wet was due to the juicy and sauce of the chicken ya”.
So if anyone encounters pink chicken meat in your Jipinhe scone and has questions, this is the answer.
Will I be a returning customer? Verdict is still out for me on that score.
Original review: I ordered the New Orleans Chicken Thigh through GrabFood as it seemed the most popular item.
What I got a super undercooked piece of chicken meat inside an equally undercooked pastry that looked raw inside.
It was not just a small part of the chicken but the whole chunk that as pink. Luckily not bloody raw. But close to it.
This was my first time ordering from this shop. But not the first time someone else has highlighted the dubious food preparation and its safety code.
I also ordered the cumin lamb scone. That one thankfully had the meat fully cooked through and tasted delicious.
I hope the owner reads the reviews and takes action to improve its food safety.
The other thing I’d like to highlight is the ridiculous charge of 50 sen for the unsealed paper packaging for the scones. It’s per piece! The charge is...
Read moreI think the gentleman working at the shop, John, deserves recognition and praise for his attitude and manner. 2 weeks (as I understand) into the job only, JPH apparently has some shifts roster, which resulted in there being only 2 people on duty during busy dinner period every day. For 3 occasions consecutively now for the past 2 weeks when I ordered at JPH MV, and I could see that the team was really stretched with orders coming in from people who dined in, food aggregators' drivers coming to pick up orders, and of course the hustle bustle of MV folks ordering takeaways.
Every single time, John is very polite, keeps apologising for the service, and I see him rushing for orders, manage cooking, wrapping up, processing orders, with only one colleague / team member to help him. And he does all these with so much positivity and also good manners. Drivers / pick-up food aggregators were sometimes mean to him and being rude, and never once I saw him showing any displeasure and he just went about business with good manners and professionalism. Such a rare trait these days, dare I say even amongst more senior working ranks.
Hopefully JiPinHe takes note of his good showing and knowing that they managed to get an examplary employee within their ranks, and if John keeps this up, I hope he gets awarded and recognised for his service level and...
Read moreI visited Jipinhe Mid Valley branch on Friday(24/10/2025)around 7:20 PM, and ordered SAVORY SHRIMP& CHICKEN THIGH SCONE at the counter, served by a Chinese male staff.
The menu showed RM10.80, but I was charged RM11.90. I assumed it included tax, so I didn’t ask further. When I received the food, it had a very strong cumin smell, which I found unusual, but I thought maybe this branch’s flavor was slightly different.
Later, while waiting for my Grab outside the main entrance, I started eating and realized halfway through that there were no shrimp inside at all. The taste was completely different. After checking the menu when I got home, I found out I was mistakenly given a CUMIN LAMB SCONE instead.
Unfortunately, I am allergic to lamb, and after eating some, I developed red spots and skin irritation on my arms. I had to throw the food away and felt very uncomfortable afterward.
I hope your team takes this seriously, food mix ups can be dangerous for people with allergies. Please remind your staff (especially the male cashier on duty at that time) to DOUBLE CHECK orders before serving.
I would appreciate it if the store could offer a refund or a voucher for a scone as a gesture...
