Discover the best of local, pan-Asian and Western cuisine with a delicious difference. Previously known as Nipah Coffee Shop at the old Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur, the brand new Nipah is nothing like the old coffee house. The same popular dishes have been recreated with a rich variety and history. From classic local Malaysian dishes like freshly made upon request roti canai and satay to Western favourites like customised pizza and pasta, we cover all bases, even decadent desserts prepared by Pastry Chef Paul Kelly. Don’t miss out on the sumptuous lunch and dinner with unlimited servings available daily! Hotel Equatorial is Kuala Lumpur's most anticipated hotel opening of the year. Formerly known as Equatorial Hotel Kuala Lumpur, it has since been stripped down completely, rebuilt and rebranded. But even with a new, shiny look, it's no stranger. One of the features that Hotel Equatorial has kept is its all-day dining restaurant, Nipah. As an excuse to properly check out the hotel in the flesh, we headed over for lunch and though we walked away with a tummy full and satisfied, we also realised Nipah is set to have one of the best buffets in Kuala Lumpur. The experience begins the moment you walk into the vicinity of the restaurant's open space. As much as we love sitting near the buffet spread, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows naturally beckoned us. This generous shower of natural lighting is only one of the many reasons why Hotel Equatorial is certified gold under Green Building Index. Despite being at the heart of busy Jalan Sultan Ismail, the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur life were left at the entrance doors. No trace of it within the hotel itself. Everywhere we looked was a hearty splash of greenery and a warm envelopment of rose gold or copper touches. So, yes, it is indeed a very cosy space and an almost endless array of food is the perfect accompaniment.

After searching online for the best satay in town, Nipah Restaurant at EQ Hotel consistently came up as a top recommendation. My wife and I decided to give it a try, and our experience was nothing short of delightful. Firstly, parking was a breeze. The hotel offers free parking in the basement, which was a convenient start to our evening. Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by the restaurant's unique design, a blend of modern aesthetics and traditional Malaysian elements. We later learned that the design was inspired by the traditional Malaysian game "Batu Seremban," adding a cultural touch to the ambiance. I attached the photo of game. The hospitality was top-notch from the moment we stepped in. A gracious hostess guided us to our seating area, and a dedicated server was assigned to attend to our needs throughout the meal. The menu was extensive, featuring a mix of Malaysian classics and Western options. However, our primary mission was to try the famous EQ Satay. We ordered the EQ Satay, along with Lamb Beryani Gam Johor and Nasi Goreng Nipah. The satay was phenomenal—perfectly moist and marinated, with a peanut sauce that struck the right balance between sweetness and spiciness. It instantly became one of my favorite satays. The other dishes were equally impressive, especially the Beryani, which was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The overall experience was greatly enhanced by the excellent service and welcoming atmosphere. Our server was incredibly friendly. In summary, Nipah Restaurant at EQ Hotel exceeded our expectations. From the seamless parking experience and charming decor to the delicious food and exceptional service, it was a memorable dining experience. If you're in search of great satay and a wonderful dining atmosphere, this place is highly recommended.

Many competing hotel buffets try to spoil you for choice by giving you ever larger and endless selection of dishes until you can't decide what you want or ever feel you had it all. Nipah, true to its local namesake doesn't try to outdo others in choice but instead curate local specialties with an accompaniment of international staples which will still spoil you, yet presents the best of Malaysian character dishes to you taste buds. Their strength in the local dishes includes a multicultural fare representing the best of Malaysian food, including ulam, chicken rice, chinese fried rice, mixed vegetables, roti canai with dhall, delectable satay (this was good), curries, tandoori meats, rendang, seafood stew, steamed fish, Hainanese chicken rice, soups and assortment of kuihs. The international dishes don't disappoint as well with cold cuts and cheese, variety of rolls, oysters shucked fresh at the table, fresh seafood platter, spaghetti, roast beef, pizza, pudding and more. Downed with complementary coffee, tea or teh tarik. The ambiance of the restaurant is also well done, with natural lighting in the dining area and lovely art decor. The waiters and waitresses were also on ball to help out and keep you refilled or remove done plates. Throughout the food were kept well stocked and no one had to rush to get anything. The highlight was the head chef who was busily seen making pasta or carving meat cuts to the customers and did so with a smile. In the end you would likely get to sample most of the dish and be satisfied in the end. Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Parking: 5/5

Bad Service and terribile. We Paid Rm200++ end up we just having most of the dessert to get full . We arrived 7.30pm , got 2 area for the food ( outdoor and indoor ) we started outdoor food got few types of food such as grilled chicken , lamb , beef , salmon ( nice ) , prawn ( Not Big medium size only ) and Grilled scallop which always empty ( we get 4 psc only but we were in a group of 5 ( so pity 1 can’t even try it have to share to try the scallop ) . The scallop are big and Nice actually but too bad they just grilled for show not for customer. And tat time 7.40pm but was empty can u imagine we choose buffet but no choices . For the grilled part also have corn , tomato , mini hot dog bread and fried rice. Choice really now much if not much choice at lease u meat make sure ur food are enough for supply !!! And next we get in to indoor . Omg again mushroom soup was empty around 8.20pm . We do request and ask for it they said ok will check with kitchen but we ask for 4 times until 9.20pm no one refill mushroom soup !!!! When we ask u should just inform us kitchen closed cos so obviously ur kitchen start to clean around 8.40pm !!! Imagine buffet dinner dining but kitchen start clean it up around 8.40pm not outside but inside. So many customer outside summore . Next oyster , staff do open oyster and fresh . I mean mini oyster but only open around 15 to 20 and stop . How dare customer take more than 5? As customer also worried others customer don’t have chance to eat ? But we still get to eat oyster but not much. Drinks also only coffee and teh tarik , I can’t event take coffee at all!!!! Which means I don’t have others drink unless I paid for Rm15 for sprit and coke ! And also waitress refill plain water only we we asked and 1 table 5 person , we have to request to refilled all the cup 1 by 1 !!! Seriously 5 star hotel but giving this services !!! 1 table of 5 cost Rm1000++ u know ? I don’t have any idea what we had for dinner . And also m not sure manager or leader or captain . They do serve again 6 scallop but all was raw !!! Better don’t serve us ! You waste our time and waste the food !!! Don’t treat ppl money as no value ! I understand run a restourant might not be easy so do us ? We earn no easy also not to waste like this!!! Don’t ask us to email complain or anything u should know this problem and solve it. M very sure others customer habing the same problem on 9/12/2023 . Do check CCTV !!! Thanks for 5 star hotel And 0 star service...
