Jan 31, 2024 Update: Despite recent CoVID disruptions, the restaurant has maintained its quality. Went there for a business dinner. Food is still yummy, service and atmosphere still good, and prices still reasonable! Kudos to management and staff. Not sure however, as to why no website!
A little difficult to access as it is in a corner of the massive Berjaya Central/Ritz Carlton suites building (across from the Renaissance hotel). The entrance and ambience are modern and thankfully do not have the Indian kitsch that most such restaurants tend to use. The look is minimalistic and but for the name the restaurant could pass off for a western one. Clean white cloth tables, very professional and friendly/attentive service...food, consisting of yummy vegetable samosas (excellent mint/coriander and tamarind/date chutneys as accompaniments) and paneer pakoras as starters; followed by prawn vindaloo, mutton bhuna, and chicken and mutton kebabs, naans, rumali roti and rice for mains, was fresh and tasty, and nicely presented as well (we asked for spicy, but ended up getting medium spicy at best). Dessert by way of a kulfi/carrot halwa/warm and moist jamun trio platter rounded off the meal quite well. Prices were very reasonable, RM 454 for all of the above and including 4 beers! Overall, an excellent find while traveling from the US on business...plan to...
Read moreNice restaurant, pleasant service, however the food is not up to my expectations, I’m sure their southern Indian dishes will taste better than the northern Indian dishes, judging from the name and the menu one will expect an authentic northern Indian food, I tried the one in Ipoh couple of month ago and to my disappointment the butter chicken tasted like citrus chicken and the aloo gobi tasted like Nasir kandar curry vege with potato wedges stir fried.. Anyway, I’ve decided to try the branch here in KL today, turns out the butter chicken tasted the same as the one in Ipoh, it isn’t the typical butter fragrance/creamy taste that so many of us fell in love with. The palak paneer tasted like roasted nuts and fried onion, very gritty and was nothing like the typical palak curries. Don’t get me wrong, the restaurant made great effort in preparing the dishes as seen in the photo, the presentation and the rice are nicely cooked, even though the food is considered tasty, it may be disappointing to some who expected a truly authentic norther Indian flavor.
Suggestion - do come here for good quality, nice tandoori grill instead of northern Indian curries, then it won’t be so...
Read moreNice restaurant. Had the tandoor chicken (quarter), the butter chicken and a dhal. The tandoor chicken was very tasty but I prefer it without bones (maybe that was an option on the menu, I didn't see). For the butter chicken, I've tried many and apparently about 50% of indian restaurants have a sweetish, pinkish coloured butter chicken, and others more redish, not sweet butter chicken. I can't tell which one is authentic or how it's supposed to be considering how many restaurants out there offer one or the other, but I personally don't like the sweetish pinkish butter chicken and this is what they have here (not a fault per se, you may like it that way). Naan was also nice. Considering we also had a beer, the price didn't seem so high, about 120RM for all. The decoration and atmosphere is also nice, refined but not sterile. I would come back to try other dishes. P.s. There was a reviewer that complained about the service, but I can only say nice things about the waiters so I would say the owners were right to respond and debunk the review (although I really wouldn't go into arguments with customers, it's just not...
