Broad selection of seafood, there are even abalone in their double-boiled soup and crab in porridge, it was a seafood lover's heaven and everything is fresher than fresh. Great choices of Japanese section with tuna, salmon and unagi (no sushi, however anyway). There are also Indian section that hardly anyone seemed to touch such as Mutton Rogan Josh, Prawn Biryani, maybe because of how the restaurant is designed that a lot of sections are everywhere. Ice cream was amazing too with the almond-flavored coffee ice cream and mix of gelato. I had a great dinner to celebrate a birthday there.
Only issue was that the restaurant is very hot, at some point I had to start fanning myself and go to the dessert section to get close to the fridge, I was sweating like mad as if I was dining outdoor. A bit stuffed too even tho the place wasn't full house on a Sat night, at most maybe 60% full, but the crowd leaves after 8pm. Selection of drinks were odd (some juice' ale that I don't fancy and Revive isotonic water?), that I went to make myself tea and coffee instead, and got a very weird expression when I asked a kitchen staff for ice (since she was the only kakak behind the counter where ice is available). I noticed too that there's a trend to seat customers on very odd places where they're stuck on a corner, or squeeze with other customers despite there are many empty tables and not a full house, so it was an inadequate experience that I had to move myself after couple hours because I think they didn't turn on AC on the section that I was placed to (it was way worse before we asked to change, because we were asked to seat next to the coffee machine with...
Read moreHad a 3 day 2 night staycation at Renaissance just before Raya. I have to say the spread is impressive. Yes, there's the usual international spread, but they served the best of each cuisine, in my opinion. Feel like cheese and crackers? There's like 5 cheeses (blue cheese too!) to choose from, a selection of cold cuts, smoked salmon, etc... They have a juice/smoothie bar that serves you carrot orange ginger or avocado smoothie (there were others options too and they serve different juices/smoothies on both days I was there). Feeling like coffee? There's a barista to make you pretty Lattes or cappucinos ❤️...
The food options were kid friendly.. My 3 year old ate so much..
Service was great too.. The buffet was almost over and staff were clearing out the food and my daughter wanted a cup of yoghurt.. The staff very nicely went to the kitchen and brought one out for her.. Even asked what flavour she wanted. So nice of her, but forgot to ask her name.
Also wanna give a special shoutout to Vijaya who we spoke to at the cafe reception counter - It's always great when the staff know their stuff, bonus if they're friendly... And Vijaya exactly that! She was bubbly and super friendly and answered all our queries.
Would love to go back and try their dinner...
Read moreI can't believe how they're trying to cut costs in such a miserly way. Two months ago, when I dined here, we were served fresh prawns, a selection of cheeses, and main courses like Angus beef and tiger prawns. The food was delicious and truly of a five-star standard.
Today, I was shocked at how much the quality has deteriorated. No more fresh prawns or cheese. The main courses have been reduced to mostly vegetarian pasta dishes, such as mushroom pasta, mushroom risotto, clam spaghetti, and another pasta with a sprinkling of beef flakes. And you're charging RM118 for this subpar, budget-style menu? Even with my Marriott 50% discount, it still feels like a complete rip-off.
It's no surprise that between 12:30pm and 4:00pm, there were only six customers in the entire restaurant. While you're trying to save on costs, you're actually wasting more due to food wastage, electricity, labor costs, and so on, all to serve just six people over the lunch period. It's downright pathetic.
The only positive note I can give is the customer service, which was still excellent. Well, that's maybe because there were only six customers, so the staff could afford to be...
