Our third visit to this grandma-grandpa family set-up in KL central Bukit Bintang area, that offers quite a selection of authentic Vietnamese fare. Prices are still reasonably affordable without the foo-foo fanfare. (Read as unassuming food offered at this restaurant, so be humble and don't complain too much!) 😂😂😂
At RM 16, the Pho Bo Thit (Beef Noodles Soup) was simple, yet satisfying, with generous handfuls of bean sprouts and Thai basil, a slice of lime, sliced fresh chillies and hoisin-chilli sauce. 👍👍👍 Vinh City's version reminded me more of the time I spent in Hanoi and HCMC, compared to the ornate ones offered at An Viet and Pho Vietz (more expensive at RM 25 and above, with sad portions of condiments). Although with cheaper, slightly thicker and more chewy cuts of sliced beef, the beef was fresh and beefy. At a more affordable RM 16 price tag, I am not complaining.
I asked grandpa Uncle for 3 more slices of lime, which he kindly and politely obliged. 🙂
I had never quite liked Vietnamese drip-coffee, but I ordered the iced version anyhow. Still not my thing. An acquired taste, it would have brought any dead person back to life... 😂😂😂
90% of the patrons were Vietnamese as far as I could tell. Yes I eavesdropped. 😉 A good testament to the authenticity of the Vietnamese food served at Vinh City.
We will definitely be back to Vinh City again when we crave for...
Read moreFirst time visiting, located in the upper floor food court/restaurants area of the old sungei wang mall. This inconspicuous restaurant can stay well hidden in the open until you stopped to take a look as it looks like a really traditional mom and pop shop that you'd find back in the Kampung. One thing is for sure, I am glad that it caught our attention! Who knew in a place like this served rather authentic and delicious as well as cheap Vietnamese food!
One of the big reasons why it can be hard to find a seat at this restaurant is the pricing. Where a set of food and drink could cost you only rm10-rm13 which is a steal in this kind of area! The atmosphere of the restaurant despite it's size feels cramped.
We ordered their salad noodle with drink, it's light, refreshing with delicious chicken spring rolls. Although the chili sauce could be less watery it still helped enhance the cold noodles's authentic flavour. The tea is also not so sweet and fragrant.
Despite having a full house, our orders came quickly and the prices seem to be at a nett rate which is even more shocking 😲! We only had to pay rm13 for our meal plus drink.
However , I would say do be quick to eat and go as it's super crowded with a small line during lunchtime.
Overall, a great place to have a cheap and authentic vietnamese lunch.

Read moreStumbled upon this shop while walking around Sungei Wang Plaza and decided to give it a try. The flavours are very fresh and clean, I really love it. The ambience is very cute and authentic too and it makes you feel like youre in Vietnam hahaha.
Ordered the beef pho, it has a lighter and cleaner taste compared to more commercalised restaurants like pho vietz and an vietz but personally I prefer this sort of flavour. I normally don't really like to eat beef but this was niccceeee. Bonus point: the dipping sauce is delicious! (sorry didnt take pic of the beef pho)
The spring roll salad is AMAZING MANNNN for real!!!!! Omg. The veggies are so fresh and the fried spring roll inside is just chefs kiss super amazing. You have to try to know what I mean. I think even people who dont like to eat veggies will love it. The sauce also WOWZAAA so bomb.
There's also a little corner in the front, selling Vietnamese snacks and sauces etc. So cute. Love this place!! 5 stars from me.
Lunch for 2 people (2 mains + one side dish) costed RM49. We had beef pho, spring roll salad, and vegetable guoi cuon (vegetable...
