New Good World Restaurant, Melaka: Decent Choice for a Casual Meal
If you're looking for a no-frills Chinese restaurant in Melaka with a mix of seafood, stir-fries, and classic comfort dishes, New Good World Restaurant is a reasonable choice. It’s the kind of place that caters to both families and large gatherings, offering a variety of familiar favourites.
The Food: Hits and Misses
The menu is extensive, covering everything from sweet and sour pork to seafood tofu claypot. Some dishes shine—the stir-fried vegetables are fresh and well-seasoned, and the butter prawns have a nice balance of crispiness and savoury-sweet flavour. However, a few items can be a little underwhelming, either slightly overcooked or lacking the depth of flavour you’d expect from a top-tier Chinese restaurant.
Service and Ambience
Service is efficient but not particularly warm—you get what you need, but don’t expect much beyond that. The restaurant itself has a functional, old-school charm, though it can feel a bit noisy during peak hours.

But if you’re in the area and need a reliable spot for a simple meal, it’s worth...

Later, when the rest of the dishes were served, we noticed another table receiving a noticeably smaller portion of mee sua. Upon questioning the waitress, she told us that since we had three people, she took the liberty of upgrading us to a medium portion. We clarified that we had specifically ordered a small, to which she replied that we should have stated it was for one person. We raised our concern to the lady boss, who acknowledged that the staff should have informed us before making that decision.
This isn’t about the price difference—it's about transparency and integrity in service.
The food itself was average. Regrettably, we do not...
