On this splendid Hari Raya, our hearts led us to the doors of Restoran Nyonya Makko, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Melaka. With a reservation secured by our dear nephew, who graciously chauffeured us, we embarked on a gastronomic journey steeped in Nyonya heritage.

As fortune smiled upon us, we snagged a parking spot right at the restaurant's threshold. The anticipation built as we perused the menu, our taste buds tingling with the promise of familiar flavors. We commenced our feast with a soul-warming bowl of Nyonya salted preserved duck soup, a comforting embrace paired with the simplicity of plain rice and the vibrant medley of fried mixed veggies.

The symphony of tastes continued with a deep-fried fish cloaked in tangy assam sauce, a succulent prawn dish dancing with pineapple's sweetness, and the pièce de résistance, Buah Keluak, a treasure trove of flavors, all swathed in a rich Assam gravy.

Our culinary escapade reached its crescendo with the Nyonya Cendol, a tapestry of ice, gula Melaka, and coconut cream, weaving a sweet finale to our lunch. The ambiance, the delectable spread, and the cherished company wove together into another unforgettable tapestry of memories.

Restoran Nyonya Makko, a beacon of authentic Nyonya cuisine, continues to charm locals and Singaporean tourists alike. Its reputation for traditional delights like the unique Buah Kerak and the irresistible Ngo Heong, with its crispy exterior yielding to a soft, juicy core, remains unchallenged.

As the restaurant celebrates 36 years of delivering original taste¹, it stands as a testament to the timeless allure of Nyonya culinary artistry. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado or a curious newcomer, Restoran Nyonya Makko invites you to savor the essence of Melaka, one...

Second time we’ve been to this Nyonya restaurant and they have been consistent with the delicious food.

The rendang chicken was fragrant and spectacular. Both the calamari and pineapple prawn were fresh and definitely hits the spot. Their calamansi juice were handmade in their very own kitchen and not the conventional method of using syrup.

This restaurant definitely stayed true to their Nyonya roots by using typical Malay spices with Chinese influences, and the flavors were comparatively sweeter as compared to their counterpart up at the Penang area or down at Singapore.

However, we thought that their Cendol were slightly above average and there are much more room to improve on.

Cost wise, for the five of us it set us back RM195 which is alright for a mid range restaurant.

Their service was definitely better than before due to smaller customer crowd. Previously, we came in at around 1pm and encountered a line. So we had to stand outside to queue for about 30 mins andthey barely had time to serve us. But this time round, we arrive at 6:40pm and we could secure a table the moment we step into the restaurant. Furthermore, they were able to serve us better which improve our impression of them.

All in all, we thought that this was a great restaurant and worth going to if you’re in thr...

This is by far the worst nyonya restaurant I have ever eaten considering the fact that the queue to dine in is long. Dishes such as the Adam fish and siting is just mediocre and subpar at best. In my opinion, the belacan kangkong is by far the worst one I have ever consumed. There is a lack of flavour is all the dishes eapecially the belacan kangkong.

The price is not reasonable considering the fact of the portion and the taste. Disappointing experience as far as nyonya food goes.

But I have to commend the system they have in place for customers for a queue as you would require to give them your name and wait in line to be called upon to enter.

The atmosphere is dark and gloomy but has air conditioning which is quite good.

Lastly, the service and the speed of serving dishes was quite efficient and quick. Between the time ordered ( which is after the queue) and the time the fish is served was quite fast considering the fact that there are many tables.

Therefore, I would not recommend to dine in here as they is nothing special for their...
