I'm just so glad this long row of hawker stalls still stands in Ipoh and as popular as ever. After all we're not in Singapore, are we? After dinner at Anika Selera, my family decided to have some nice tong sui (sweet soup) at this street. Seeing this long row of stalls, we couldn't resist and had another round of eating! I can't possibly leave Ipoh without having a bowl of hor hee. It was indeed a good choice. All of my teenage nostalgia came back with this effective memory jolt of a noodle soup. Tasted just like how I liked it. My brother wanted Ipoh style char kuey teow and this stall numbered at 32 gave him what he wanted and more - in the form of very pinkish and tiny cockles peppered all over the fried noodle. Tasted as good as it looked. What about the sweet soup? I ordered the most boring but no less sweetly taste 清补凉 (cooling sweet soup with roughly shaved ice). Just what I wanted after a few days of heavy and heaty food. Oh you have to try this dessert called Wan Tau Long, yellow jelly that covers a bed of shaved ice. It tastes refreshing and citrussy that reminds me of calamansi cordial. Together with the ice, you get this really zesty and cold feeling in your mouth. A great way to end my adventure down the Ipoh food memory lane.

Granted... Tong Sui Kai is a tourist haven but locals still flock here in droves for the great night Hawker atmosphere and experience including us "local / tourists"! It's always a good time and lots of choices of food to satisfy all tastes. Everybody has their favourite stretch of hawkers along the street. Over the years, we have preferred the middle and final stretch with our personal favourites. Be careful walking and sitting on this narrow street as there are still cars trying to navigate along with pedestrians and seated diners. Our latest meal included curry mee, fried dumplings, rojak, ais cacang, lime jelly, all of which were fairly tasty. These were all purchased is the vicinity of the desert stand at stall 27. We were looking forward to another meal at 糖水街 for the first time this season! It's always a fun meal as it's got something for everybody! We ordered many of our favorites including Wan Tan Mee (No. 44), Curry Mee (No. 42) and of course dessert of Ais Kacang (No. 43). We came midweek on a Wednesday so many of our favorite stalls were not open. Turn on the last, the food was tasty as always and the atmosphere was fun and excitingly chaotic as always!

First time visiting, one of the highlights of ipoh's nightlife scene is the Ipoh Tong Sui Kai food street. Bustling and full of life, it hosts many food stalls serving Ipoh's key signatures to local favorites. However, as many and more reviews that may or may not have been buried, should a simple filter towards the lower ratings show you a clear picture of the reality that I like call the 30/70. Where a majority of the dishes you order are just bad(70%), while the rest are okay or decent. If you are a tourist, it's very hard to say which stall is the nice one compared to the other, I'd rather you save your money and not bet on unfavorable odds when trying your luck here. However, I'm not too sure where else you can go but Ipoh definitely has other options. In my dining experience, the Tau fu fah and soya Cincau was sour and I worried about getting a stomachache although the taste was okay. The cendol was cheap and tasteless with the brown sugar ice soup being too sweet, masking any possibility of a decent dish. The fish balls tasted even more bland than the original. The shaved abc with ice cream is also super sweet with the fruit being tasteless and old, not that we would know since the sweetness overpowered the dish probably. The meatball hor fun soup was okay which I think was from stall 20-22. Honestly? My first impression would not be so bad if the price was cheaper, but unfortunately its rather expensive(Rm10 and up) for Ipoh and I could easily find better food for cheaper prices in KL, absurd. (For example, the yitcha kaw kaw kota Damansara served better Ipoh Tau fu fah than here) While I have to admit that my review is based on the stalls I choose, I will say this is my experience and it has happened to others as well. Just be careful and make sure you know who or where you are ordering from then you should be fine. Definitely would help if you have a fellow Ipoh friend to bring you around, but if you don't, please avoid this for your sake. There are many other places in ipoh that are worth spending your hard-earned money on. As for the ambience and service, it's about you expect with a hawker center, no comments there. Thanks for reading my review ☺️

13 Aug 2022 evening @ Tong Sui Kai Its been quite a few months yet to visit this place after the MCO has stopped... Reached the carpark area at the back of the stalls and a very helpful uncle usher me to park at the space that he wanted... then after he expected you to pay the parking fee of RM3... so if you drive there and park there, get ready to pay RM3 for parking at their carparking area... The evening sky was painted with beautiful coloured sunset scenery... love the colour... The foods that ordered and tried, seem to have drop their standard... not very tasty as expected... The "皮蛋" "pi dan" , century egg was a bit hard... ( maybe the people here preferred it to be a bit hard, however, I am used to take century eggs that are soft...) The fried noodle looks delicious, however, after tasting is.... its lacking of the "char" fragrant... also apparently, I reckon its missing the important key ingredient, which is the pork lard to enhance the flavour... The dumplings were not as tasty as expected, but with the black vinegar added onto it, the taste was much much way better... P.S. Remark: There were 2 stalls whereby 2 of the uncles that forgotten/do not put on their face mask... One of the uncle like to talk alot with the customers.... he kept chit-chating with the customers while they were eating... ...the other uncle sneezed out loudly without any intention to cover his mouth, while delivering his food from his stall to the customer's table... quite disappointed with this place after the MCO stopped... #TongSuiKai #MCO

A bustling place if you're in for a cool treat in the evening. There are rows and rows of hawker stalls selling variety of different icy cold desserts such as ABC (ice shaved dessert), fruits, kuihs, and more. No doubt why this street area is called "Tong Sui Kai" (in Cantonese it literally means, sweet dessert street). Parking here is ample and there's dedicated parking lot for a small fee up to RM3 per entry directly opposite of the stalls. The row of hawker stalls easily stretch up to 50 different choices depending on your preference. Just simply choose a spot you want to have a meal and the waitresses will serve you well. You can also order food from different stalls from as far as you're seated. Price wise, it is somewhat may not as cheap as like in any hawker centre. If there's no seating spot available at the front, they also have a larger space mostly for bigger crowds or family at the back. (Note: During RMCO, only 2pax can share a same table in the front, larger crowds will be directed to the back seating instead). Opening hours here can be vary till late night (from evening till 2.00am). (Note: During RMCO, operating hours is only until 12:00am).

This place embodies the best of Malaysia's food scenery: an entire street lined with all the street eats & street food you can think of, numbered hawker stalls, and the chatter of people from all walks of life, eating with friends and family. Seating consists of plastic tables and chairs beside a road, people walking about to find seating, and a crowd akin to a pasar malam - there's no better depiction of a bustling Malaysian makan scene. This place is perfect for late night suppers or grabbing a post-meal dessert. I recommend stall #41 for their icy treats. Loved their fruity version of ice kacang, and the refreshing "ice jerry". Stall #21 has an amazing assortment of tong sui - but beware they'll sell out quick, and may close once they're all out. They've got an egg tong sui and a cold version of bubur chacha that's pretty good. For me, the food and the atmosphere ultimately make this a cool place to be. Overall, a must-visit place for visitors and locals alike to experience Ipoh!
