It is a local restaurant run by the owner and his daughter. If you're a local, they'll host you wonderfully, but if you're a tourist who doesn't have a table reservation and sits on one of the 4 remaining free tables outside, then you'd better avoid this restaurant. The first contact with the owners was such that they absolutely ignored us for a while, and then we were told that all the tables inside were reserved (it was sunday and a national holiday) and that we should sit outside if there is a free table. So we sat outside at the only table in the shade of a small umbrella. We got a menu and decided to take one portion of local rabbit to try. We ordered squeezed orange juice, which they didn't have, so we changed it to lemonade. Probably 4 waiters changed until we finally ordered what we wanted from the first moment. Some waiters are new and of course they will need time to learn the job and get used to it, some are older and know the job but there was no need for all of them to serve us. The waiter who served us cutlery also touched the upper parts with his fingers that we put in our mouths. Terribly unhygienic and unprofessional, we were left in shock. The food came very fast within 10 minutes, but not the lemonades, which we waited longer because the barista had a lot of work (all the reserved tables were filled and he really had a lot of work himself, but we didn't notice that the owners was helping him). Before eating, I visited the toilet to wash my hands, and since I'm pregnant I have to urinate all the time and I'm nauseated, even though I'm not normally squeamish. But the toilet in this restaurant is a huge disaster - very small, dirty floors, no paper, stinks, hardly any soap. I did everything in a hurry and ran away. Finally the lemonades arrived and we started eating. The rabbit was really tasty, the puree that was served with the rabbit seemed more like an instant puree, and the potato, cauliflower and broccoli salad looked good until my friend found a huge hair in the broccoli. She asked the waiter to take the piece with the hair to the kitchen, but nothing happened. They didn't even deign to apologize for the inconvenience, which any normal restaurateur would do immediately. Since we were disgusted by everything, we asked for the bill. Paid for it in a cent and swore we will never return to this restaurant and will recommend our friends, acquaintances and families to also avoid this disgrace of a restaurant. They are also supposedly big racists, so we would strongly recommend people of other races not to even dare to set foot here. My friend and I come from a very touristic country Croatia and we partly live from the tourists, just like Malta, they are even smaller and totally isolated so there is very important to treat the tourists as good as possible. But these people don't seem to understand that at all. One day this restaurant will stop doing business because the locals won't have money for it, and tourists won't come because they won't feel welcome. In any case, we advise you to seriously work on your own attitudes towards tourists and to act politeness if you have to, because you will not profit...
Read moreWe Came especially to have Traditional Maltese Rabbit on red wine. If you are looking for the same dish I cannot recommend this restaurant...
We received rabbit indeed BUT the rabbit hasn't seen the red wine even from the train like we say. I was asking the waiter if it is really on the red wine and he was assuring us that yes like we are a total idiots. It hasn't have the coloring neither the taste of wine. In this kind of ,,fancy,, restaurant we would expect a nice rabbit leg...not the case. The piece of meat was good maybe for a soup...so many bones and the dining looked more like medieval fighting... I was lucky I was eating with my brother and not with my girlfriend because it was just massacre to get to the meat and the ratio of bones vs meat was 50/50. I don't even mention the vegetable which was frozen. The meat was eventually okay...a bit dry to my opinion. BUT what gave a crown to this dinner was the staff... If I was a manager of this restaurant I would fire them on the spot! Unprofessional behaviour, yapping with you and making an idiot out of you just pissed me of... not a single sign of empathy or at least to say sorry about the embarrassment which the food really was. I don't get how the restaurant could have the rating they have. They look and for the first sight they feel like a A+++ restaurant but they're just AREN'T. Again - if you are looking for the traditional rabbit or for a romantic dinner with your better half THIS IS NOT THE...
Read more-Contras- Service: Slow service, no personal attention by the waitress (did not ask, if we enjoyed the meal and so on). And the most akward thing: My wife went to toilet. It was blocked by the young son of the waitress. He played video games. Its understandable to have your child at work, sometimes. But not putting your child into place and affecting the guests is a no-go. The waitress did not react and did not took her son away from blocking the toilet. Atmosphere: Other guests stood under the front entrance to smoke. The smoke blew inside and smelled intensively. Meals: Akward and unbelievable: We asked for fresh squeezed orange Juice. We definately got bottled juice. You can realize it easily. We asked the waitress again. She again said, its fresh squeezed. Really Bad style to lie to your guests like that. The 8 hours slow cooked pork was really dry and nothing, what we expected. The skin wasn't crusty, but really like gum. Impossible to chew. The rabbit liver was dry, too (cooked too long).
-Pro- Service: - - Atmosphere: Nice location. Cool to sit in the entrance of a house under a high roof. Meals: The sauces were really really tasty, good job. Meals were looking pretty good.
-conclusion- They really need to improve taste and service. Its not enough to have good looking meals. Taste is more important and the meat is way too dry. The service was a naughtyness. Lying, slow and blocking the...
