Possibly 1 of the most interesting experience I've ever had with an f&b establishment. As someone who's been teaching hospitality and service for some time, I couldn't help but empathise with the outlet manager/supervisor on how this must be one of the hardest outlet to manage and the lady manager/supervisor (trying to fix the drinks tower on 19/3, while trying to keep the outlet running) was doing her level best, at the moment we arrived to buy some snacks for the lake cruise ride. Being so close to the lakeside and the most well known brand of fastfood, naturally all tourists flocked to this nearest fast food joint for food they know and toilet available.. but the space is super small compared to most other mc d ... and the tourists too many to handle/control. So much so they even hired a big (bouncer-looking) guy to help guard against non-customers, while helping with calling out orders and delivering orders nearby... Over-tourism is real and not all visitors understand how difficult it makes the life of locals and other tourists if one isn't conscientious and considerate to others (service workers, visitors, residents)... it drives some to learn to ignore, to defend, to offendďź to protect...I don't blame the workers for 'just doing their jobs' without urgency/customer service as it gets awfully tiring and frustrating..and I truly appreciate those who tries so hard to still make effort even with all the challenges presented. It was truly eye opening and a huge realisation for me to share more of such case studies with my students... we waited around 20 min for our takeaway over but when we realised we couldn't wait anymore, we asked if we could pick up the order later after our cerise ride, and after checking they said alright. Upon return, the picked up wasn't as smooth but given the nature of the business and operation processes, the long queue at the counter still, I honestly do not know how much better could it be possible given the circumstances. Dont think I've given this much thought to any review I've ever done, but I feel so strongly about this memorable experience that I couldn't help myself from sharing, and hoping that others will be more mindful of their footsteps during...
Read moreQuite enjoyed this experience and comparing it to the McDonald's in England. It's cheaper and the food is more substantial. The McCafe has an actual espresso machine rather than the automated ones in England, which makes sense to be taken seriously in Italy.
I had a Moroccan Espresso (Marocchino) and a plain crossaints, and the Double Chicken Burger meal, with cheesy fries and a beer! None of these you can get in English McD. The cheapest beer is only 10 cents more than the soft drinks! Would be at least ÂŁ2.50 extra if English McD even served alcohol.
The coffee did not taste that nice, certainly not as quality as coffee in the bars in Como. The burger was pretty tasty. I would of liked the fries to have more cheese.
Upon asking my date her opinion of her meal, she described it as "good". She had a cheeseburger meal with a Nutella muffin. The muffin was pricy at âŹ2.40 compared to my coffee and brioche at âŹ2.20.
The restaurant is not disgusting but also not totally clean. There is a lack of free tables outside so we sat in. The screen for order progress was not working so the staff have to call out the order number; in Italiano and Inglese of course. The staff however are friendly and smiley.
I was unsure about visiting McDonald's in Como as I thought I would have preferred to visit another actual Italian bar, but I'm glad I experienced the Como...
Read moreGiven its location in Como, this branch offers some of the most scenic views out of any McDonald's I have ever been to.
There is some indoor seating, as well as lots of seats outside. Many tables were dirty and I didn't see them being cleaned during my visit, which was disappointing.
I went very early in the morning, and even then it was quite busy. All of the ordering kiosks were out of order, which meant that service was very slow, as everyone had to order from the single employee who was serving. However, the service was friendly, and I received my order fairly soon after I had paid.
Overall, it's a decent branch of McDonald's and the stunning views more than made up for the lack of cleanliness and...
