This was such an incredible find in a city with amazing food. Where do I begin?!
First and foremost, the restaurant space itself is gorgeous. Really beautifully done with an impressive open kitchen.
Our waiter was so kind and attentive, and made sure to relay that a person in our party had a nut allergy to the kitchen. While we knew we ordered all nut-free dishes, one of the chefs personally came to our table to ensure he had the correct information. It was a lovely act of kindness.
For appetizers, we ordered the focaccia with butter (a generous portion!), the olives, and the asparagus. All were delicious and unbelievably fresh.
We also ordered the chorizo pizza and while the flavors were amazing, the crust was exceptionally pillowy, light and outstanding.
I ordered the short rib pasta, which was truly the best pasta dish I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life. The pasta itself was perfect. It was so fresh, that it was simultaneously tender yet al dente. It was evidently cooked in the most perfectly salted water, adding another element of deliciousness to the dish.
Truly a memorable meal. Compliments to the entire team at Rufus. It’s a...
Read moreI showed up at 5:45 pm - the whole restaurant is completely empty . Maybe 3 full tables yet we were told that they had reservations booked the whole night - and were seated in the back tiny table next to the kitchen . We ordered the focaccia and when it came there was a black men’s hair on it . We were given another one (it was delicious) but at no point did anyone apologize nor was it taken off our bill. We ordered two pastas which where both delicious in flavor but the one plate was cold- pasta and sauce were cold - we returned it and got a new one that was equally as cold. This is not a cheap restaurant by any means yet the whole experience did not feel expensive . We finished our meal and the restaurant was still EMPTY. Not sure why there was not some sort of general manager to apologize for the hairy food / cold pasta/ terrible seating we were given in a fully empty...
Read moreWe are staying at the ONTO hotel and tried to visit Rufus on Wednesday, 9/4 as walk-ins. We were initially told that if we waited, they could seat us. A server came by after 5 minutes to let us know that a table was being prepared. After waiting another 5 minutes we inquired about the status, and the manager (Manuel?) told us there was no availability for us. Confusingly, two other walk-in guests came while we were leaving and were seated immediately. It became obvious that the manager simply was not interested in us eating at his establishment. We speak Spanish and had been cordial, expressing gratitude for the staff’s efforts. This type of treatment in 2025 is disappointing and raises questions about fairness, consistency, and equal treatment for all guests. We hope this account serves as a caution for other visitors who may encounter similar indifference or...
