Soul La Roma — Restaurant in Mexico City

Decent burgers, great music, and very attentive service. Upon arriving, I was acknowledged and seated in the indoor area of the restaurant, where I was promptly handed a menu and had our drink orders taken. We ordered a classic American burger, cauliflower “wings,” and a side of fries. It turned out the burger already came with fries, so the extra order was unnecessary.

The food arrived quickly, and the burger looked quite appetizing. The “wings” were more like fried cauliflower bites, not exactly what we were expecting. The burger itself was decent, though nothing extraordinary. It started falling apart towards the end, likely due to the excess mayonnaise. The bun was the highlight, but the meat and other ingredients were just average. The fries were also decent but not particularly memorable.

We were only provided with ketchup, mustard, and a spicy sauce, with no mention of any other sauces available upon request. Prices were average for the area, although some of the other burgers on the menu had a steeper price tag. This place offers an interesting menu with unusual options like their signature burger, the Sauber, completely covered in fondue. The menu has a few gourmet options but after trying several of them, I can't say the visits have amounted to an outstanding experience, just an 'ok' one. The burgers are not bad, but the meat patty has been consistently mediocre, overcooked and not as juicy as it should be for the recomended grade of doneness (medium - medium well). The hot dogs are fine, and the drinks too, specially the ginger float (recomended!).

Overall, the 45 minute waiting times are disproportionate to the experience (the place is very small! And since it has a bar-like ambience, many people just sit and drink for a long time after lunch while the line keeps growing outside), it's an interesting visit to try burgers if you like fondue (note: you can actually add fondue as an extra to any burger!), But if you're expecting top notch burgers,...

I was really excited about all the gourmet burgers but was totally underwhelmed w my duck burger which tasted and looked more like corn beef hash. The bun totally fell apart and the onions were carmelized so much as grilled. While their owner? Floor manager? Is totally hustling and helping customers, I sat at the bar and practically had to beg the bartender to order my food - she didn't speak to me the whole time I was there.
