We reserved this place about a month ago for my sisters graduation party, we were with 7 people. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff who congratulated my sister, which made her feel even more welcomed. Throughout the evening we were served by 2-3 staff members who were very attentive to our group (7 people) and what food/wine options to choose.
In terms of food, we ended up having just enough of everything and not too much, which was perfect. No food was wasted, it was absolutely delicious! The standout was the black truffle risotto, the asparagus and the roasted broccoli. The fish was also very nicely presented and cooked. All the other dishes were super delicious as well. Everyone still talks about how well they’ve eaten yesterday which is a testament to the quality of the food and the ingredients. Amazing!
It was a Friday evening dinner shift and therefore it was relatively busy. We weren’t sure if the restaurant was understaffed, but at several times we had to ask the waiter to let us take our order when we hadn’t seen them for 10+ minutes. Granted we were a bigger party but it seemed like they weren’t as attentive during the middle and end of the shift as they were at the beginning. Some people ordered coffee with the dessert but we were already finished with the desserts when we had to get the attention of the staff that we had also ordered coffee. Coffee was eventually served but several people complained that the coffee was cold and not worth the 5,5EUR price of cappuccino on the dessert menu. My sister also ordered dessert but nothing special was done with her desert to make it a bit more festive or special. This was disappointing since we had explicitly mentioned this dinner was for a special occasion.
A bit sad that the evening had to end on cold coffee but overall I’d say we still had a positive experience. The staff was really nice and attentive, it just seemed they were understaffed and overwhelmed by the Friday...
Read moreA little disclaimer before I dig into this wonderful restaurant: I am an Italian expat and I lived all over the world from Australia to Singapore not counting my European movings and I have to say that when I get a recommendation for an Italian restaurant from locals I usually end up very disappointed. Well this is NOT Fikissimo case! I went my first time over there with my mind already biased but I got blown away from the whole experience. Starting from the atmosphere going to the staff you already start feeling that Italian chic vibes. They have an amazing team (thanks to all of you guys): highly professional and extremely well educated. Maybe you don’t know this but in Italy being a waiter/waitress is actually a profession and not just something you do to save money while studying, that’s why the level of service I am used to is high. The food is where you fall in love. The menu is curated in a way that you will find a meticulously picked selection of dishes all authentic and that will fulfill a diverse range of dining needs. From traditional spaghetti with clams and risotto to an amazing sushi topped with stracciatella (burrata) and a great choice of meat or vegetarian options. Make sure to give a try to the amazing lentil salad. This is why I quickly become a regular at Fikissimo and I notice that the menu gets new additions monthly according to what is seasonally fresh. If you are looking for a real Italian experience then you must visit Fikissimo and I assure you will forget you are in the Netherlands! Is a window to Italy with a view of pure Mediterranean style adding a twist of fusion that won’t disappoint any palates! Grazie Fikissimo for making me feel at home every time I walk...
Read moreA fun and vibey space with friendly service and an expansive fusion menu. My friend and I dropped by Fikissimo Restaurant for my first meal in Amsterdam, and it was a super fun dinner! The space was very classy and gorgeously decorated, with an interesting combination of classy, elegant, fancy decorations and upbeat pop music, spurts of more punk-ish / “cool” decor. The slightly eclectic ambiance was reflected in the menu, which featured Mediterranean, Italian, and Japanese food. We split the tagliatelle with langoustine, and then we each got a grilled protein.
The pasta was tasty, with a decent al dente texture and ample tomatoes. It could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was a great introduction to the meal. The langoustine was also tasty and a nice pop of sweetness, although they were a touch overcooked.
For our main plates, I got their tuna steak and my friend the filet. The filet was a good rare, although we were surprised to see it cut in half when served. The steaks are served a smidge more rare than normal, so something to keep in mind if you’re very particular about how your steak is done. The tuna steak was also solid, with a light sear on the outside and rare / raw center. I wish it had been seared slightly longer, at a higher heat, or with an outer crust for a bit more flavor / texture contrast against the softer center, but it ass tasty. The hazelnuts were a fun contrast in texture, both on the tuna and on top of the simple spinach salad.
All in all, it was a fun and unique space! The food was tasty but didn’t wow me, especially for the...
