THE BAB Oud-West Korean restaurant — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Honestly disappointing I came here because I had a great experience the one in east. We came here on a not so busy day with a reservation. The staff told us to sit at any table and then then went on about their activities. The table was not very clean as we could see the water marks of the previous glasses. After 10mins the staff came to take our order to realise that they never brought the menu in the first place.

Eventually we placed our order the tteokbokki which came quick but just not warm enough as it was sitting on the counter for 10mins ( maybe it wasn't but it was just barely warm)

The rest of the food was really good though don't get me wrong

Finally the biggest issue was that we were served on plastic plate. The waitress came to tell us that they were out of plates so we would get kids plate. ( Again the place was far from full) and once other people came they all got regular plate and we were not offered to get regular plates ourselves.

That day was far from being the anniversary I had planned with my girlfriend

When you do not have experience in Korean food, this is OK. I came in and got a table straight next to the door wat was open. Crazy because there was plenty of space. The service is slow and low experienced. The prices are not cheap. As I came in for lunch, I order the lunch set bibimbap with half fried chicken. As I want tea instead of soft drink, they require 1 euro extra what is crazy most of the time it is much cheaper, anyway I accept it. The bibimbap came fast, the server forgot the cutlery, what did not happen to tabel next to me after I got served. I got it after I request it. The table are slippery making it hard to mix up the bibimbap, moving around the table.

The fried chicken came, the sauce is above average but nothing special. The fried chicken is clearly double fried, as in cracks and holes are some unfried batter. Also the chicken is bit drier than other fried chicken. The rest is alright, nice vibe but too relax. Will not come back for any occasion,...

Food was great and very tasty. I had the dolson bibimbab and kimchi on the side, my buddy went for the sweet fried chicken, a bowl of rice and a salad. Very often the rice is the issue with Asian restaurants, but the rice was awesome! It was soft and chewy and had the perfect texture. The toppings in my hot pot were good to great. I would have preferred my egg yolk runner though, but all in all the bibimbap didn't disappoint! The fried chicken was tasty, chewy and a little bit on the dry for my liking, but still very good. I'll order the spicy fried chicken for my next visit. The portions of the mains were perfect, not to much not too little. Both dishes went well with Cass beer.

Lighting was good enough for quick and bite. Food came fast enough and the vibe from the staff was great. In short ambience is ok to good.
