Ramen in Amsterdam!
It’s a basic ramen restaurant serving great tasting value meals. On the menu there’s a variety of broth options for the noodles. Spicy mala, black garlic miso, miso…. Noodles are ramen or tan-tan . Vegetarian options available as well.
There’s also the rice options with different toppings ranging from chicken yakitori to gyoza, Japanese curry sauce etc.
The side dishes includes wakame salad, vegetarian gyoza, tofu. Not a ton of variety as the main focus is on the bowls of noodles.
Good value for the money. Portions were huge for the set meals. The black garlic miso ramen is the winner for me. It was not overly salty, and the broth was well balanced with just the right amount of miso. The black garlic sauce was super tasty and lifted the flavor of the entire bowl of ramen.
They have a sister restaurant Takumi which also serves Japanese food. Wine is sold by the glass and sake is served hot.
For the travelers in Europe who are tired of the “tourist “ restaurants, try to find one of these restaurants for the best value bowl of...
Read moreSo I have been to their other outlet in Leidseplein and I always rave about it to anyone who will listen. Had a great time, great food and service, so I expected this outlet in Dam to be the same. However, while the service and atmosphere were good and acceptable, I cannot say the same for the food. The shoyu egg was overcooked. The chicken katsu with the curry we ordered was either past its freshness or not seasoned well, it had a damp smell and taste. The only good dish was the okonomi karaage we ordered, which was freshly cooked and very well seasoned with a nice crunchy batter. Not sure I will return unless the food is better - will most likely stick with the...

The main downside: after eating there is a noticeable aftertaste of flavor enhancers, like from sausage or instant noodles. Gyoza and ramen have the same aftertaste. As a former chef I can safely say - they are flavor enhancers.
Wakame salad, my favorite seaweed 🤦🏻♂️ - served on a handful of green lettuce with a little seaweed on top to give the appearance of volume... Who eats chuku with fresh lettuce anyway? 🤣
Interior: eye-catching and colorful - a bright picture for tourists. Prices compared to the flavor: totally not justified.
There are many more authentic places in the city with great ramen. Yes, they don't look as appealing, but we're here for the food, not the wrapper. You can ignore everything but the flavor enhancers....
