Got the mince pie for lunch as it was the only one left, possibly because the pie warmer is smaller than the ones you'd see in a dairy. It's definitely not worth the $7.50 plus pay wave surcharge. Pie was extremely greasy, to the point you can't take it out the bag without the filling falling out the bottom. The mince was hearty but had a terrible carrot and onion filler ratio (almost 50/50). The butcher up by 4 square does a much better pie for cheaper. Staff were rude. They don't make any eye contact and seem to get angry that your business is interrupting their conversations. All the doors were open to making a hell of a draft which is concerning for the amount of food they keep uncovered in top...
Read more5 stars for food, 1 for service. Lovely spot, the food is excellent. But: we ordered a trim coffee and regular coffee, and watched as the young female batista poured regular milk into both cups. When given the coffees, we asked her "Um, which one is the trim?" Let me make you a trim one right now", she just looked at us (obviously not realising we'd seen her), and without flinching, pointed to a coffee and said "That one's the Trim".
We didn't want to make a fuss/scene, so we just left. Interesting choice by her. Not a big deal, but, we'll grab our coffees elsewhere...
Read moreLooking for lunch in akaroa yesterday we decided to try the food from this little cafe. Unfortunately the food was vile and not fit for human consumption. The bagel was so dry it had me retching from the first bite and was generally bad tasting. The cheesecake wasn’t any better and had an off taste. I threw it into the harbour but then realised this was a mistake as any sea creature that decided to take a bite would end up as sick as I did. $28 for the experience and spent what was meant to be a pleasant day feeling sick. Avoid this terrible place...
