Cool concept of having board games whilst dining, but poor execution. To make my stance clear, I would never return here. We were asked to leave after 1 hour and 50 minutes of arriving due to a reservation directly after us, who had arrived early. We were highly embarrassed, we had to leave without finishing our meals. Staff did not notify us discretely resulting in drawing attention from neighbouring tables which was humiliating. No where in our online booking did it mention that we needed to be gone within 2 hours. Upon our arrival at the restaurant this was not mentioned either. To rub salt into the wound, the group that had arrived was larger than ours which made it feel like we were given the boot to make way for a higher paying booking. Our table was never asked if would like dessert or a top up of drinks. Games were severely damaged and parts were missing making them unplayable. This was a common occurrence as stated by other diners present.
What I will say is we were all impressed with our meals and drinks. The menu was very creative. But, our treatment completely ruined this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFills a gap I didnāt even realise Christchurch was missing! I went for the Friday night opening and was so impressed that I brought friends back for my birthday treat on Sunday! Amazing first impression - a beautiful cozy, vibrant atmosphere yet quiet enough that you can easily hear everyone at your table, and a very relaxed vibe. Staff are so helpful and friendly, the service great and food is affordable and delicious - the pizza slices are huge! A great range of drinks (including excellent coffee open late!) and I especially love the āpotionsā - a fun novelty drink. And the range of games to choose from is fantastic. We played group card games but I canāt wait to come back for a board game next time! My friendās son joined us on Sunday afternoon and loved playing mousetrap and with the barrel of monkeys. The level 2 restrictions (due to covid) were adhered to well too. Very well done, team! Thank you for making my birthday special with a sign too, and we all thought that this is the perfect spot for us to catch up. Canāt wait to come back and you deserve the glowing review...

No one else wanted to touch the cards, it looked like spots of mold were on them. Bigger tables. There's a new gaming cafe nearby called Meepleopolis, and they have much larger tables. There were just four of us, but there isn't much space for medium to large board games, especially when you add... (see next point). Pizza. Rethink how pizza fits alongside games. The server plopped the pizza literally on top of our game because there was no room, leaving us to figure out how to manage things. The pizza tastes great, but is extremely thin and therefore floppy, so it's difficult to hold unless you basically roll/fold it into a burrito. No plates were provided as well, just a couple napkins, another reason why their games can get so dirty.
Dice has lots of good things going for it, but there are...
