We were sitting at a table right across from where the meat is being BBQ'd. We did not eat there because we had ordered food already elsewhere, however the food looked great! I have nothing but 5 stars to comment on the food, how it was presented to other customers, and the chef's way of being with the customers. The problem was at about 9pm/9:30pm I wasn't looking at the time our group of 4 witnessed the most unprofessional and aggressive way of dealing with staff. It looked like a senior staff member (about the same height as the chef) who went up to the chef and then publicly began shouting at him and standing right up against him with his face literally 20cm or less away from the chef's face. This body language and aggressive stance continued for some time. The 2 of them argued for over 10 minutes and from what we were witnessing the senior staff member was the most antagonizing who kept coming back to say something more. I felt like walking up to the counter and telling the chef to go to Worksafe NZ and make a complaint about bullying and/or how he was being spoken to. It was completely disrespectful, and from a business point of view very unprofessional that this was happening at all, and that it was taking place in front of customers and diners in the front of the business! I'm surprised the chef continued to cook and stay to clean up his grills. I would have taken my apron and walked right out. Ordered (in cash) some Fries and some Jalapeno Bites instead, and the place wasn't very busy at all, but some fried food still took 30+ minutes, I went to the counter to see how our order was going. Our fries and bites were on the counter for a good 10minutes in front of me, a guy came out with more fries to top off the bowls, just to have him drop some on the bar lean, and still decide to put them in the bowls to serve to us.
Health and Safety not a priority here clearly.
I made a complaint and asked for our order to be remade, not a problem I was told. Within 2 minutes we had the cheese bites at our table, and we dug in. STONE COLD Jalapeno Bites.. Asked for a refund, and was asked by the manager for our bank account details as he was afraid of being told off by the boss (so he says)
I reminded him we paid in cash, and would like our refund in cash.
Food Hygiene seems non existent, Things on the menu that they don't serve. Serving COLD food. AND asking for bank details because they didn't want to 'touch the till, my boss won't be happy with that'
