Very disappointed with our experience with Sal's Takapuna. The customer service was atrocious. The front of house demeanor was bored, unwelcoming, took her time to acknowledge us, and extremely casual instead of professional. My wife and I finally were able to go on a date together for the first time in six months. We decided to order from Sal's, which was empty, instead of from Pizza Club because it was quite late and they said a pizza would be ready in about 15 minutes (as opposed to Pizza Club's 35 minutes). I returned 20 minutes later, only to have to wait another 10 minutes, while the front of house staked fridge shelves and then put our garlic knots in the warmer. She even forgot the dipping sauce we ordered, and said "what?" when I asked about it. No apologies or anything. For whatever reason the pizza wasn't even hot when we got it. I'm very disappointed in the service and quality of what we ordered. $50 for pizza and dipping sauce is a premium, not to mention it was meant to be a special occasion. I wouldn't accept this service from Domino's for a $5 pizza, let...
Read moreFinally! After only visiting the Queen Street and the K Road branch where sitting down for a meal felt like squeezing into a NYC cab, I found the Sal's Pizza branch at Takapuna which boasted a large comfortable restaurant, complete with outdoor seating and even two large TVs for convenient sports viewing.
Staff were friendly and efficient, providing table service after we plonked ourselves down for a late lunch on a rainy Sunday.
It was warm and inviting indoors and we stayed for about 45 minutes, enjoying our meal.
Meatball pizza was nice and hot with even some stringy cheese action - parmesan cheese, chili flakes, and oregano provided for liberal sprinkling. Pepperoni wheels were also delicious and the regular buffalo wings were just enough for two.
Worth it and even worth the drive across the Bridge just for a sit down...
Read moreWe ordered online early on a Friday night. The estimated time for pick up was 20 minutes. We drove there to collect it from Devonport on the 20 minute mark and were told it would be 20 minutes (more). No explanation. No apology. We drive all the way back to Devonport and return again in another 20 minutes only to wait for an additional 30 minutes till our pizza was actually ready. So, in total, from time of placing the order we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for 1 pizza and some garlic bread. Pizza was OK but not worth the wait, the expense and the serious lack of customer service/communication. Please just be honest if you've got a huge delay and your customers are going to have to wait a long time. And a free garlic knot to say sorry wouldn't go astray. Customer service people,...
