Ordered the roasted lamb as it was one of the restaurant's "signature dish". Supposedly fall off the bone tender as per description, but it was chewy, dry and flavourless -- totally not impressed with the burnt sprig of rosemary that looked as if it was collected from the planter beside the entrance/door. It doesn't add anything to the dish flavour wise - just ruins the plating and the flavour. The dessert (panna cotta) and drinks are also mediocre. Very expensive pricing for the quality of food.
Foh staff are not attentive - doesn't smile or greet the customers.
UPDATE: 15/1/22
Hi, first of all I apologized if you think that my review was a personal attack against your establishment. If you think I was being too harsh, i will change the stars so hopefully it wont affect your rating but my review will remain the same. I did not intend to ruin your reputation, i was just writing based on my experience. I have been in the industry for almost two decades, travelled the world and tried different restaurants and cuisines, and in my opinion, customers feedback is one of the most effective way to improve the business in terms of quality of food and service. I invited a friend of mine to dine at Tasca as people in the community were raving about the Tapas, and how it's a must try. I would have tried it but that little note that says "Tasca's signature dish" from the mains caught my eye, so I ordered it instead and save the tapas for the next visit. I expected a lot from the meal - food quality and all as it was NOT CHEAP and I trust the people who gave good reviews about it. I waited and waited and it finally arrived, my first reaction was that It does not look the same as those photos that were posted online including the burnt sprig of rosemary, and when I tried it, it did not stand to its description. So to finish this comment as its getting too long, When someone criticize my establishment, i take it as a gift so I can improve and be better and will never get offended if someone has constructive criticism. I'm not here to win any arguments I'm just here to give my professional opinion. Regarding my comment about the other establishment that I went to with my friends few weeks back, would you smile and be happy when the staff takes your plate while you're still eating with a fork on your hand? You may also want to read all the good reviews I posted from other restaurants such as Due Amici as they did very well with regards to food quality and service. Again, no personal attacks, just constructive criticism as we paid $76 for one main dish, a small dessert...
Read moreWe came to have a lunch with this restaurant. The lunch menu was admittedly limited but I enjoyed it enough to return for dinner.
When we came back for dinner, purely to experience the paella, we found it was lacking, the seafood was overcooked and chewy, the rice was was caked black and burnt. The burnt taste was throughout the paella, a real shame as presentation was good.
My eating partner left a poor review for her meal, she owned a home in Spain, and we have both spent a lot of time in Spain so we feel it was a meal that fell short. We left disapointed and her review reflected that.
The business owner the spent the time to match the review name with the table booking and rang my number to criticise the review, at 9.30pm in the evening..
I was accused of lying, and trying to sully his business before I could fully share my experience with him. He was only interested in telling me off for leaving a poor review - which wasn't my review. Sadly, it was the cooking that fell short and the call left a really bad taste in my mouth too. For this I am also leaving a review of my own. I see we are not the only people who recognize the food falls short, many other reviews reflect the same.
To the owner; please hire a chef to help you at the back. Listen to your customers when they have a bad experience, don't ring them just to satisfy your ego for any feedback you get. Take feedback as an opertunity to improve your business, not a personal criticism, as you've done...
Read moreA couple of gripes before I get to the good part - it was so loud, my hubby and I had to almost yell to be heard by each other. Though I love the idea of the heaters in winter, with how busy it was tonight, it was too hot. And lastly, it was too bright in the new part of the restaurant - a bit more mood lighting like the original area would have been nice. Now, aside from all that, the food was so delicious. I had the slow cooked beef cheek and hubby had the lamb - they were falling apart, so succulent and we appreciated the accompaniments; though we did have to get an side salad for our extra veggie intake which was just dressed rocket leaves. I also enjoyed my classic margarita and sangria drinks. A lovely way to celebrate my birthday, and we probably would return, though probably not...
