The Tent Cafe — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

Yesterday as we savored our weekend meal and coffee at the tent, I chose to try the toasties, having not had them in a while, as I typically favor smash avocado and French toast. However, I was dismayed to find that the price had escalated by almost 42% from $11.50 to $17, with a corresponding increase in kids' meal prices. Furthermore, the food had lost its flavor and the portions were decreasing. The coffee was equally disappointing, with a watery, bitter, and burnt taste, similar to the previous Sunday's experience. I am unsure whether this is due to the new barista's inexperience or the carelessness of the individual preparing the coffee shots. Moreover, the new barista appeared to be using the same cloth for cleaning the wand and the tables. I wish they would bring back the two ladies who consistently made excellent coffee. We will give them another chance next weekend, but if our experience remains unchanged, we will have to find a new coffee spot where we can enjoy both the coffee...

We’d read a lot of positive reviews about this eatery. We had a coffee here late afternoon with a melting moment. That was good. We had to wait until 5pm for dinner as the kitchen would be open from that time and on. Orders were taken at 5pm but we understood later that the chef had not turned up and the food had to be cooked by the other staff. They did their best and it was ok, nothing special to be perfectly honest. The steak was more medium than I had asked for and there were a few potatoes below the steak, no salad. The portobello mushrooms were served while I was well underway and the6 were not warm anymore. I guess that they were forgotten to be served with the meal. I don’t blame the girl that cooked our meals, she did her best! I do think the chef should have turned up in time. Deleted my 5 star review with the old owners so I could leave this review for the new owners. We used to visit here weekly and had wonderful relationships with the staff. The new owners are running what used to be a bustling, wonderful cafe into the ground. All the old staff have left and the new staff including owners are rude and false. Completely unorganised. Don't bother booking a table as they don't know how to do something as simple as that based off of multiple experiences witnessed today. Staff are inattentive and are incredibly unorganised. Behind the counter was also chaos when there was no reason for this. Prices have gone up astronomically which isn't due to the price of ingredients or staff wages seeing as the quality of food isn't as good and most of the staff have left.
