Red Mount — Restaurant in North Island

I went to dinner here for my birthday last night. They got majority of my tables order wrong multiple times,their comminucation was terrible and theywere very verbally abusive. My 17 year old brother had just gotten his. food brought to him and they said " oh it's 9 you haveto leave now" they were very rude about it and the manager spoke in asian to the other man there and he ran to the door and locked us in. We were the only table there, only like 3 of us were drinking, my brother was all the way at the end and was no where near alcohol. They were yelling at us and one of the men working hit a plate out of the managers hand and it went all over my friend sitting there. We asked them to unlock the door and they threatened to call the police because we refused to pay for food we didn't even eat and i asked to only pay half price which we agreed on. I would never reccomend anyone to go here, their attitude and customer service skills were appauling, from the minute we got in they were being so rude to us all. I was very disappointed and so shocked a manager would ask another employee in their language to lock the door on us so we cant get out. We waited over half an hour for food that was COLD and had no taste to it, the guy serving us kept trying to convince me i ordered something i didn't and he smelled very bad. Every person who ordered he yelled at because he wasn't understanding what we wanted even though its on the menu right infront of him. They were disgustingly rude and I have taken this further to get this place shut dowb. Who in the world locks their customers inside the shop and refuses to let them leave after treating...

I had my first experience at Red Mount on Saturday night as my friend had a birthday to celebrate. We originally chose this restaurant as we had heard good things, have karaoke and cater to vegetarians. Our night did not go as planned, the amount of time it took to get everyone's order written down exceeded the actual preparation time which we did not expect. these random rules that aren't listed on the website or around the establishment at all were told to us on arrival - these rules included saying they have the option to kick us out if thy think we are too much (fair enough) but the way it was communicated upon us was like the staff were expecting it of us which I feel is incredibly presumptuous and rude - everyone at our table was above 25 and all adults. When we ordered we then got told that if we were drinking - regardless if it was one beer ordered from menu or if we were bringing our own bottles of wine we had to spend at least $15 if we wished to stay. Again this was not told when we inquired or when our booking was made.We then got told by the staff that this was the law - which is not true at all. We felt very rushed as our plates were being swooped from underneath us pretty much forks still in hand. The noise was too much as we were bumper to bumper with other patrons, it was very hot and a couple of our guest had to leave for fresh air then eventually end her night early as it was an extremely over whelming environment. Again I find this a real shame, being one of the few karaoke restaurants, and being the point of difference from others I expected a bit more that what was received. The food was nice however so...

Spacious seating and relatively fast and friendly service. Lamb sizzling plate: wow the most sizzling plate I've ever seen in my life, definitely lived up to its name. A good portion of meat and veg and was cooked very well. Lamb was very chewy but not tough at all. 4/5 Singapore style curry fried rice noodles: decent fried noodles with well done flavour. Not something I normally pick to eat but didn't disappoint. Up to standard 3.5/5 Double cooked pork belly in casserole pot: damn i was supposed to get roast pork but oh well-flavour was really well done not too salty but salty enough! Good range of veg and the pork slices were a very good size. A greater portion size for the price would've made it better. 3.5/5 Overall good meal, your average Chinese restaurant, price was average $$ for the quantity and quality, but would try out all the other places welly...
