We were really looking forward to trying “The Bakery” after hearing a bit of buzz and the high rating online, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype for us.

We ordered two potato top pies, a lemon meringue, and a blueberry tart. Starting with the pies, pretty underwhelming. The mince was bland and lacked any real flavour, and the base was pale, not golden or flaky like other pies we’ve tried around NZ. It honestly felt like the only taste came from drowning it in tomato sauce. A very forgettable pie experience.

The lemon meringue was a big letdown too. It felt like a generic lemon tart you’d grab from Woolies, with some meringue quickly piped on top. Sadly, it ended up in the bin,it just wasn’t what we were hoping for.

As for the blueberry tart… if you’re nostalgic for the taste of cherry cough medicine from childhood, this might be your thing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t ours, and that one also ended up in the bin.

Overall, good coffee, but definitely not one we’d go out of our...

This morning I awoke like any other morning, cold and unknowing

I had a busy morning with my usual coffee and breakfast, in passing I noticed the aroma of a bakery, I thought I might indulge myself as you do on holidays

My usual choice is a chocolate eclair, a delicious decadent treat that almost always delivers, I saw this magnificent beast through the cabinet and I thought that’ll do me for all my hard work this morning

CONSIDER ME ENLIGHTENED, I have lived many years on this big rock and in that time I have consumed many chocolate eclairs, I’d argue I am an expert on the matter of their consistency, texture and taste

I would be hard pressed to believe that there is a better eclair anywhere in the southern hemisphere and believe me I have looked

If you are planning to go to Queenstown for a holiday or you are an enjoyer of chocolate eclairs like myself, you would be remiss to deprive yourself of the sensory experience that is this tribute to the all seeing pastry...

If anybody sends you to Ferg Baker, they are talking rubbish. Family run Queenstown Bakery is hands down THE BEST bakery in town. It's where we send all of our guests for their morning much. Their award winning pies are unbeatable (OMG the creamy Potato Top and delicious Peppered Steak). The sausage roll has to be the best we've had in NZ - and that's from all of us. Great coffee at a good price, freshly made sandwiches and fantastic service, always with a smile. Wonder why there's no locals in Ferg? Queenstown...

Wanted to give this bakery a try since the lines at Fergbaker were very long. There are quite a few options of sweet baked goods and pies. I only tried the raspberry almond tart which unfortunately was a miss for me. The tart was interestingly filled with cake with a thin layer of raspberry underneath. The almond flavour was too strong and chemical like and ruined the tart. Will update when I get a chance to try the pies. Also note there are limited tables inside to dine in.

Visited here frequently whilst staying in Queenstown, and it’s probably my favourite bakery ever. The owner is lovely, always happy and smiling. Food is always perfect and there’s a lot of options to choose from. I frequently went for the pepper steak pie and an iced coffee. Only negative - there’s only 3 tables which are almost always full. Will definitely visit here again in future.
