Great service. Can't be faulted. Nothing was a problem for Marcia and her team. We had a group of 41 for my birthday and I had asked for the $50 fixed price menu for everyone. They added a vegetarian option for a couple of the group which was declared delicious. Others said they would have liked it so maybe it should be added as a normal option. Bringing my own wine for a $5.00 corkage was a bonus. The only negative comments -" the fish could have been more tasty" and "the linguini was rather ordinary" The food was copious. They let us use birthday cake as dessert and, in the end, did not even charge us for the 'cakeage' fee. My guests felt they had value for money. The setting is rather lovely for the inner city and we could bring our own music although the noise of 41 people talking was so high indoors we couldn't really use it. We could have sat outdoors, (the micro-climate in their courtyard is milder than the prevailing climate) and the music would have been easily audible. It would even have been possible to dance. But we had made the decision to sit indoors. Several of my friends commented that the ambiance made the dinner feel like a large family get together - kind of cliche Italian or French. They loved it. If I had another family wedding I would surely go there and eat in the courtyard. No stupid venue cost and byo wine. this would be a win...

We ordered a smoked fish mornay, scallops and steak. We waited for more than 40 minutes and about 20 minutes after ordering, the fish mornay served, totally tasteless, fish is dried as of came out from desert.
Later, scallops was served as pictured, and its raw inside. Raw scallop, totally unbelievable!
We immediately refuse to eat and returned the food, skipped the steak and requested for bill and walk out.
The lady supervisor/ manager came, mentioned that they are busy serving others, which is not their problem serving this kind of quality and they could not bypass the earlier patrons just to satisfy us. But, raw scallops? That’s definitely a bad and lousy excuse.
Their price is not an average, scallop is 55 NZD, Mornay fish is 26.9 NZD and steak is 53 NZD. It’s not a small amount for a dinner!
She insist not to charge us anything, just rest assure we don’t put bad comment or reviews.
But we decided not to keep this silent. If she insist to charge us for any of the things, just comment and message me right down here.
But I personally will never recommend this restaurant due to her refuse to apologise attitude.
If you get a nice serve, it’s all good for you. But I don’t want anyone to take a rush for a 100+...
Read moreDisappointing on a number of levels. Firstly not on Parnell Rd but down a little alley so it lacks the vibe of others on the Rd in my opinion.
Secondly, I ordered fillet steak with bacon and mushroom sauce. When my "steak" arrived I thought it was odd that it had been thinly sliced almost through and there was no bacon. The meat was very chewy. Turns out it was venison, something only revealed when I saw the bill.
I never have ever ordered venison anywhere and am sure it was their error not mine. Perhaps a complimentry wine or dessert could have been offered as compensation but it was not. I guess I should have complained about the tough steak.
Very disappointing.
Thank you for your response but you never came to my table and asked about my main course. You did ask how I liked the scallops entrees. Had you asked about the main I would have told you about its toughness and lack of bacon. I thought until I saw the bill and was keying in my pin that it was just bad steak. Despite having paid I guess you could have said 'Could we offer you..." I've worked in hospitality and I know honest mistakes happen. But the best hosts try to rectify them. I know you care I wasn't satisfied but that doesn't...
