THEY’RE BACK! FAT PUKUS are back in business and are located in the AKL CBD which is perfect! As many have pointed out that they are now in the old Al Browns location, but bringing their own vibes and aesthetics to the location! Imagine everything you’ve seen on their Instagram but now in real life and bigger and badder than ever’ can’t wait for them to open shop and be able to have a burger right on the counter there!

[ Bernie Mac xtra pickles & Mustard ] A genuine burger classic with cheese. Smash two Fat Puku beef patties on the grill, get to work with shredded lettuce, B. Mac sauce, our special homemade pickle, diced onions and bring it all back home between two fresh potato buns ▪️ Burgers are on point as usual and I’d expect nothing less from the team 💯 the first bite just has you making all the right noises, the balance of sauce and that delicious meat blend, smashed to thin lacy perfection 👏🏽 enough said! Fat Pukus don’t discriminate they have a Veggie burger too with the beyond meat patty in the mix, so if you don’t eat meat no worries 😉

Amazing. So, sometimes if I leave a poor or middling review (which I did for this place back in 2023) I sometimes come back and if I'm impressed I update it.

My meal and experience at Fat Puku was so good, the only fair thing to do was to delete my review and re-do.

I'm no burger elitist or expert, but I've had a few. In fact I've downed smashed burgers in 5 different countries, including Gordon Ramsay's at Harrods of London. But my 'Bernie Mac' burger, with 'humble' seasoned fries, was HANDS DOWN the best smashed patty burger I've ever eaten. I don't know if they lace the aioli with ,like, LSD or something, but dipping the crunchy, fresh fries into it was amazing in and of itself.

Smash burgers have to be three things: a mid-sized flavour bomb, a crunchy caramelised beef delight, and a soft but robust bread experience.

Tick, tick, m'fing tick.

Seriously. If you're reading this, get in the car, drop what you're doing, get to this place and have a smash burger with an ice cold drink. You won't regret it.

If you’re on the hunt for the best burgers in Auckland, look no further than Fat Puku’s. Honestly, these might be my favourite burgers in the whole world - not just in NZ!

The patty is perfectly smashed, crispy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside, and always full of flavour.

They consistently use the very freshest ingredients, and the beautifully soft potato bun holds everything together in one delicious mouth watering package.

I know the team spent a long time perfecting their recipe well before Fat Puku’s was even born, and you can taste the effort and care that went into creating each of their burgers, whether it’s the classic Fat Puku, Bernie Mac or Cindy Crawford. I’ve ordered each of these quite a few times and all of them hit the spot!

Their Skinnies (fries), covered in their signature Frost seasoning, are seriously good too and are also completely addictive.

Another small touch (but one I love) is their hand written “stay rad” on the delivery bags, which perfectly captures the awesome friendly vibe of the place. It’s a brand that cares, and it shows in the details.
