I’ve been ordering from here since they were a tiny hole-in-the-wall on Queen St. So happy to see they’ve got a nice spacious restaurant now! The entrance is on a side street near Countdown. It was busy on a Saturday night but still had a couple open tables with no wait. We placed the order via QR code but paid for the order after dining. Food was the same good quality, love the seasonings and the char on the meats. We also got iced teas and the portion is very generous. Definitely want to come back and try the hot pot another time!

This place is one of a kind! The restaurant specialises in Thai street food, serving food hard to come by in Auckland. I went with my family, and we all left feeling very full and satisfied. We had the Mookata (large), which is a Thai BBQ, easily filling up the 6 of us. We also ordered many side dishes, with some honourable mentions including the Coppa, Hat Yai Fried Chicken, Nam Tok Tiger and the Red Chic Skin Skewer. Definitely a must try if you are by the Viaduct in Auckland CBD.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved Maakindii! The flavors were incredible—sauces bursting with new tastes, spice that tingled instead of burned, perfectly cooked beef, crispy-juicy chicken, and shrimps so fresh I felt like I was eating straight from the sea. 🐠🍤 The slushy joy bucket was such a fun touch for groups. My friend who’s been to Thailand swore it felt exactly like being there—you forget you’re in NZ! A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Thai street BBQ. ✨

I’m Thai, I can guarantee that this place is authentic street Thai BBQ indeed, (The owner lady also talks Thai to me during my awaiting. )

Their BBQ are exactly the same with those in Thailand. No need to go to Thailand to try these Thai BBQ on rice. My partner likes their Tiger Cry (Grilled Beef) and she said that the Coppa (Grilled Pock Collar Butt) are a bit too much of fat but it might be because of the pigs in New Zealand are much different of those in Thailand (Grilled Pork Collar Butts in Thailand are less fat but more meat.)

Last but not least, surprisingly, they charged me only a dollar for a bottle of drinking water. How could we get this price in CBD ?

Hope they getting more repeat and regular...

Literally walked past, it caught my eye, and decided to get three skewers - Red Chic (chicken), Red Chic (chicken skin), and Piggy Skewer (mince pork).

The chicken and chicken skin skewers are so good, the chicken skin especially, a good aromatic chicken flavour, doesn't feel guilty! It's the type of bbq that you find yourself dreaming about and craving. The piggy skewer is quite soft, tender, juicy, a sweetness to the savoury.

Authentic thai food! It's what the young owners love to eat themselves but can't find anywhere else (in Auckland).

If I'm ever in Auckland again,...

Really delicious food. I got the Yum Zapp on Rice (extra spicy) and was not disappointed. For starters, it was actually very spicy (which I wanted, mind you). The chicken was incredibly crispy, with a wonderfully sour, herby sauce coating that paired well with the soft, sticky rice.

It’s a small shop, but it’s really cute, and has a lot of charm. Kind of a fun little casual date night vibe. The food was ready in just a few minutes, and everyone was very friendly. I’m not in Auckland for long, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be going...
