TianFu Noodles — Restaurant in Waitematā

I recently had an unpleasant experience at TianFu Noodles restaurant. I ordered the No. 5, Noodle soup with spicy beef tendons, but unfortunately, it was excessively salty to the point of being inedible. When I brought this to the attention of a staff member, they offered to dilute it with a chicken stock soup. However, even after dilution, the saltiness was still overpowering, leaving my tongue numb and unable to taste anything else.

I asked to try the soup that was originally served to me, but the staff member returned shortly after claiming they hadn't sampled it themselves. It was disheartening to receive such a dismissive response, especially considering that I've ordered the same dish multiple times before without encountering this issue.

I was disappointed by the lack of empathy and problem-solving attitude displayed by the staff member. Ultimately, I ended up with plain noodles and tendons in stock soup, a far cry from the flavorful experience I had anticipated.

My noodle carving led me to a small, decent restaurant where each table boasted a tissue box—a surprise compared to typical eateries.

I ordered the spicy pig intestine noodles 🍜, relishing the delicious flavor of the meat. However, choosing kumara noodles proved a mistake; they were chewy and challenging to swallow—a novel but regrettable option. Opting for a medium spice level turned out too spicy 😂 for my taste, and I wished for more pig intestine in the dish, though not a complaint. Priced at around $18, it was worth the taste 😍.

Next up were the spicy chicken dumplings with a medium spice level— a show-stealer with a delightful sweetness between bites. Despite the small size costing $7, it offered a decent portion.

In love with the dumplings, I couldn't resist ordering another medium-sized serving for takeaway at $15, which included 15 pieces. Despite opting for a lite spice level, my 5 and a half-year-old found it too spicy, yet she enjoyed it.

My partner and I ordered from this place tonight and actually couldn't be more disappointed. All dishes were bland and lacking in any kind of good taste and flavour. My partners noodles came packed incredibly cold, with mine being luke warm. The actual noodle that they chose to go with both the dishes did not soak in any flavour and were in fact just cheap not very nice noodles in the first place, which meant that even when it had soaked in the broth for a while, I did didn't get any of the flavours that actually complimented each other and more just seperate features of the same dish. The slobbery chicken was maybe 80% bone, the bones were incredibly small at times and the chicken was bland and not tasty. The dumplings in spicy sauce not only lacked flavour on the inside but actually the sauce just felt like a brought sauce from the supermarket that they smothered over it.
