This restaurant serves top quality Pork Katsu Set in reasonable price which can satisfy even native Japanese tongue which is highly picky for homeland cuisines. You cannot find any other Katsu restaurant that provide this highly-rare experience in Auckland. The restaurants here mostly deal with only chicken in the first place, with thin meat, mundane batter and a barbaric amount of sauce and mayo. But they use pork with good thickness and cover it in the harmony with decent crunchy batter. It has sufficient tastes even without sauces. Mentioning to flavours, they attach even 6 types of different sauces; Brown sauce, pepper mayo, lemon, chili miso, mustered and wasabi. You can enjoy trying a infinite combination of the flavours. You will be a scientist who experiments your favorite combination and must feel yourself like a child that loses your sense of time in the sandbox. I was amased the quality of their miso soup too. It has solid taste based on dashi but keeps the balance of its flavour. Not too strong that doesn't disturb the existence of katsu as the core of the meal, but also ensures the deep layers of umami itself. I can express it "Elegance" for its sophisticated art of balance. Have you ever focused their way to serve water? They use iron thermo bottle to keep the chillness of water to entertain customers, whereas others serve only lukewarm water. Most of restaurants underestimates this point but it pretty reset your tongue, throat and stomach and refresh yourself as clear as Lake Wakaipu. You must realise how it's grateful as the season is shifting to summer. As a conclusion, this place is a monster of hospitality. You can enjoy their traditional high-quality service in only the range of $20-30. Which else can provide with it? It's miracle in New Zealand. This is proudly genuine Japanese quality restaurant among the rabble of Japanese-like imposters. To tell the truth, I didn't wanna post this review. Otherwise I was planning to write it in Japanese, since there could be no vacancy with a swarm of customers once I reveal their values and rarity here. But I also know you lose international competitiveness if you dominate something valuable domestically. I learned it from my country. Therefore I decided to post my honest opinion in public to notify their attraction worldwide. Hope you guys enjoy here but save my seat as well.

I have just finished my lunch at this restaurant. We patiently waited outside the entrance for 20 minutes before entering to place our order. After ordering, we waited for an additional 25 minutes. However, we noticed that some customers who arrived after us had already finished their meals. So, I approached one of the servers to inquire about the situation. She apologized and assured us that our food would arrive soon. Nevertheless, we had to wait an extra 15 minutes before all our dishes were finally brought to our table. Observing the arrival of new customers, I estimated that it took them about 10 to 15 minutes to receive their orders. This led me to believe that the server had indeed forgotten our order. However, she merely offered a brief apology without explaining the reason behind the delay or providing any discount (although the discount wasn't my primary concern). I believe that if a server forgets an order, they should candidly admit, 'I'm sorry, I forgot your order,' as this would constitute a more sincere and complete apology. Regarding the food, I ordered the cheese pork cutlet rice and fried chicken skin. To be honest, if we solely consider the food itself, I would rate it three stars. The pork cutlet was crispy but lacked flavor and had a slightly greasy quality, which was also present in the fried chicken skin. Taking into account the service aspect, I would give it one star due to its inefficiency and lack of sincerity. In my opinion, spending an hour to complete such a lunch is simply a waste of time.

Katsu Katsu served up the best Tonkatsu I've ever tasted in Auckland. The portion was generously sized, even for someone like me. That initial bite of the Tonkatsu completely blew my mind – it was perfectly flavored and had a delightful crispiness on the outside, while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. What's more, they offer complimentary refills for rice, cabbage, and miso soup! Their takoyaki was a real treat – crispy exterior with plenty of octopus inside. And let's not forget about their delicious chicken karaage. I want to give a big shoutout to all the chefs and the servers for staying polite and professional, even during the hustle and bustle of a busy environment. Hats off to the entire team! I highly recommend this place, though do expect a short 15-minute wait for a table as the space inside isn't very large. But trust me, it's well worth the wait!

I visited this restaurant for dinner with my husband tonight. They looked busy even it’s on Tuesday night and had only one table of outside left. When we booked them, a male staff asked us if we wanted to have a table of outside. But I wanted to eat inside, so I refused it and I said “ I would like to have inside so it’s okey we will wait for our turn.“ And I asked him how long it would take time. Then he answered “20mins.” And he said he would call us when we got our turn. So we were waiting in front of the restaurant. Even after 40mins, they didn’t call us, so we asked when we could have our turn. And the same male staff answered “ I think we called you already and skipped your turn because you didn’t show us.” But we didn’t get any calls or text from them, also waiting outside for long time. He definitely knew about it because we were watching him from outside. Then he asked us if it’s okey to have a table of outside again… Omg I felt so bad and disappointed. He didn’t even apologize at all and I didn’t like his attitude that looked like “it’s not his faults”. At least he should have apologized us at first, then it made us feeling better and I could forget about this experience and enjoy food. Their katsu were a bit expensive but were good. However, I didn’t like the staff, so I will never go back again.
