I recently visited Times of India and was genuinely impressed with the quality of both the food and the service. The dishes were bursting with flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care.
What stood out even more, though, was the incredible service from Sumit. As someone who comes from a hospitality background, I can truly appreciate how well he managed the floor — bartending, running food, and ensuring every customer was looked after — all while keeping a friendly, professional manner. He was nothing short of amazing, and his ability to multitask under pressure was stunning to watch.
That said, it was surprising (and a little disappointing) to see that on a busy Saturday night, Sumit was the only one working. For such a great venue, I would expect at least a couple more team members on the roster to help maintain the highest standard of service and ensure guests get the full experience without stretching one person so thin.
All in all, Times of India is a fantastic restaurant with excellent food, and Sumit is truly a gem in their team. With a bit more staffing support, this place could easily be...
Read moreWe've gone to TOI many times since they opened and had a really good experience the first few times. However, since last year things have been going down hill. Last night we had a company dinner and it was the worst experience we've had. Our dinner last night was the worst food we've had and caused us all upset stomachs and loss of sleep for hours. The smells of the paneer muska and the daal was off as was the taste. The daal at 1984 and TOI is so unique and special but very unfortunate it's been made so unappealing at both places. The meat and fish dishes have been typically good but again the taste was off. The bombay mule is one full cup of ice in a half a mule cup of actual drink, we know because we took out all the ice from the cup. Typically we request a little ice but forgot to and ended up with half mule cups of drink. The ambiance is nice and the staff is hardworking but if TOI doesn't increase their quality of food then I can't see how they'll be doing well for...
Read moreLoved the restaurant good location as there are plenty of off street parking. Ambiance is really awesome but disappointing with the menu prices. Non veg curry is 2 dollars cheaper than a dal I seriously don't understand the logic 😐 Cheese Naan had hardly any cheese in it felt like I was chewing on a dough cooked. Overall the food was good 1 time visit only. The best part is all restaurants in AKL shut down kitchen by 8.45 pm or 9.00 pm over here the last order is taken at 10.15 pm so if you are a late night dinner person this could be the...
