A friend recommended this resto but I've never been able to confirm until today.
Was pleasantly surprised by the food quality, interiors and excellent service. I find the service attentive but not intrusive. We brought 2 babies, in 2 strollers and the wait staff made sure to avoid serving anything near the babies. Special mention to Joyce Ann who was superb and served with an authentic smile.
The muted but elegant interiors was conducive to family gatherings. The space among the tables were ample and did not feel like I can automatically overhear the other table's conversations.
Next, we were amazed by the affordable prices even without the credit card promo deducted. Quality was comparable to the best Chinese restaurants we dined in during our overseas trips in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. I especially liked the wintermelon soup and the beef tenderloin. I like it when shrimps in the soup have that fresh discernable crunch when you bite into it. Tenderloin was so soft and delicious. Was delighted that egg tarts were available at dinner time. Though I prefer it with slightly thinner crust. I like my Fujian rice with more ingredients so will order the Yang Chow next time. The salted fish rice did not dissapoint. I chose small portions which they stated were good for 1-2 people. We are average eaters but I think the portions were for more than 2 diners.
House tea this time was jasmine tea. It was free flowing, served attentively and very light so complemented the heavy dinner.
Don't forget to ask for complimentary parking
Lastly, received a gratitude email from them after we dined and it included a dining reservations link. Nice touch.
Will be back soon with my...
Read moreDimsum feast at New World Makati was our something new for 2021 Christmas lunch.
It was my first visit at New World Makati. It is supposedly one of the 5-star hotels in the Metro but it did not feel luxurious upon entry at their lobby. The hotel lobby felt simple in its aesthetic especially when comparing to grander lobby of other luxury hotels like that of the Manila Peninsula.
As for unli dimsum offering of New World's Jasmine restaurant, it was not up to our taste.
I appreciated the salted egg shrimp for my main course but we could not finish the crispy spare ribs. Some of the dimsums we outright disliked (e.g. pork in sticky rice). At most, some dimsums, we liked but not necessarily loved (e.g. spring vegetable dimsum). The iced tea was very refreshing for its very subtle taste. The mango sago, chocolate balls and strawberry shortcake as their desert offerings were just okay at best but nothing special.
In gist, it was a nice new experience to have but not something I'd anticipate to again try. Once was...
Read moreUnfortunately, staff did not explain that certain sauces was being charged. Sauces were on the table whereby as a customer, taken that all part of the food ordered. On the bill & the only explanation given was that certain sauces not free. I think, customers should be told straight away what sauces are being charged & not just straight onto the bill regardless of the amount. Turned out to be disappointing in the end as we were put in a no choice position. No offer even to cancel. Or, refund. Also, some staff had a no idea of certain food on the menue. All staff should be trained properly temporary or part time. As a customer, we are in no position to know. Compliments to the chef, cook/s as food very good. But, service questionable due to the above which made it disappointing especially since Jasmine Restaurant not cheap. And, in an expensive restaurant like Jasmine customer service should be at...
