Café Review: Nonie’s, Boracay, Philippines

During our recent 10-day trip to Boracay, my partner and I found ourselves drawn to Nonie’s almost every day. Nestled in a private and quiet corner of the island, this air-conditioned haven quickly became our go-to spot for both exceptional food and outstanding service.

The first thing that struck us was the warmth and proactivity of the staff, especially waitresses Julie and Christine. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor made each visit a delight. Christine and Julie always served us with a smile, making us feel genuinely welcome. Without asking, Christine helped to swat the houseflies that managed to find their way into the café when she saw them coming towards us. Julie went above and beyond by helping us with our heavy bags of groceries and even tying and securing our bags for us. Their exceptional service truly enhanced our dining experience.

The food at Nonie’s is nothing short of extraordinary. The highlight of our culinary journey was the Chicken and Pork Adobo. The dish was a symphony of flavors: the meat was juicy and tender, the gravy had a perfect balance with a pinch of sourness and a hint of lime, enhancing the overall taste beautifully. The 72-hour roasted pork belly stood out with its crispy exterior and succulent interior, while the chicken drumstick was cooked to perfection, with the meat effortlessly falling off the bone.

Another standout was the Adlai Arroz Caldo, a Filipino rice porridge, which was far from your typical congee. This dish was rich and aromatic, with layers of flavor that made each spoonful a comforting and delightful experience.

What impressed us most was the consistency of both the food and the service. Every meal we had at Nonie’s was a testament to their commitment to quality and excellence. The menu also features healthy options, such as black and brown rice and the refreshing Healthy Hour Boracay Brew Kombucha, catering to those who prefer lighter and nutritious choices.

All in all, Nonie’s in Boracay offers a remarkable dining experience. The combination of exceptional food, fantastic service, and a serene atmosphere makes it a must-visit. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Nonie’s promises a culinary experience that you'll want to return to time and again.

To all readers, the longing we feel for Nonie’s is profound, a testament to its exceptional charm. As we reminisce about our culinary journey, we invite you to indulge in this gastronomic sanctuary on our behalf. Savor each exquisite dish and let your taste buds revel in the delights that Nonie’s...

Where do I start with a place like Nonie's? I should say on a weekday for dinner time it should not be empty. We walked past twice after and again it was the same. Such a disservice from the locals and the tourists because the food, service and atmosphere where all the best from the brunch and dining scene in Boracay.

When we came in, we were greeted by the server and kitchen staff, all had great smiles and were told to sit anywhere. We were handed menus and given plenty of time to choose items, no rush at all.

The drinks came, amazing, sweat pea drink was lovely and had a pop, similar with the orange drink I had too. The mains we ordered were the Chicken and Pork adobo and the Bistek Tagalog. Both mains were to die for, the beef was succulent and paired well with the sweet potato mash, also the chicken and pork adobo went well with the black rice and egg.

Food was lovely and refreshing because Nonie's does Filipino food with health, sustainability and tastiness in mind.

Finally we had dessert and shared a Mango sticky rice dish. The presentation was lovely, a nice take on a traditional dish. The taste followed with the presentation and was lovely, the cacao bits were such a smart addition sprinkled on the plate.

Overall, if you are visiting Boracay, or even you are a local and finish work and want a meal, please go here. You will not be disappointed, food for dinner was great and I can only imagine how their brunch menu tasted because that's what they strive for even more so. Thank you Nonie's team for serving us on 4th September 24, around 7-9 pm. You set the bar high and achieved so much, keep up the good food because you are...

OMG!!! This place is so amazing, food is beyond fantastic !!! My mom and I ordered the Bistek Tagalog and Chicken and Pork Adobo, this is definitely not your ordinary bistek and adobo both are slowly curated with health conscious eater in mind without sacrificing the original flavor. Their Malungay Pineapple and Mango Turmeric Ginger smoothies are to die for, both are made with the freshest ingredients. And to cleanse our pallet Rod are server offered us their in-house Lemongrass Tea, which was a perfect way to end our dinner. It is unfortunate that we didn’t get to try their dessert, for their meal serving are so humongous that my tummy didn’t have space for it. Ambiance is so spot on, definitely not pretentious, very low key and inviting.

Shout out to the friendly staff, most especially to Rod our server, very knowledgeable not just about this restaurant but also their sister restaurants as well, like Little Taj, Muchos and Island Izakaya. Thanks Rod, you’re truly an asset to the restaurant. We appreciate you ❤️.

One last thing, a picture of our food wood have done justice to this lengthy but important review, Howe we were famished that we forgot to take a picture of their delectable food. I guess you just have to take my...

Very attentive and cheery women led staff. Great ambiance for dates. Air-conditioned and comfortable. Dog friendly too! It's my third time here and could say that they're vegan food and other dish offerings are done poorly, lacking flavor and soul to the food. They just look good on the gram, sadly. But the balance of the dishes and the customer experience while eating them is kinda terrible to be honest. Like you're almost forcing yourself to finish some dishes just because you paid too much for them. Today I got an adlai arroz caldo swimming in coconut cream. It had so little adlai drowned in an oily turmeric coconut cream soup. Needless to say it was nakaka-umay. I couldn't even eat consecutive bites. I had to take breaks or else it was gaggy. The large calamansi they gave couldn't save the dish. Imagine all the unnecessary calories that thick broth will do to your body. But they are ready to remedy any adjustments. They drained the soup and I think added more adlai to fit my liking. Above all, this is how customer service should be. Dishes can improve over time especially if you have a great of a team like theirs. I keep going back for their coffee from Yardstick.
