I had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant. I was really looking forward to enjoying bacalhau à lagareiro, but when the dish arrived, it was undercooked. We sent it back to the kitchen, and when it came back, we noticed it wasn’t even a proper piece of bacalhau, but instead, as the waiter explained, it was the fish's head. There was no meat on it, only tough, inedible parts. Honestly, chicken wings have more meat than what we were served.
To make matters worse, the owner didn’t try to resolve the issue. Instead of offering a solution, he told me that Portuguese people prefer to eat this "carcass" and that I didn’t know what the good part of the fish was. This attitude was incredibly dismissive. I left the restaurant still hungry, having paid 50 euros for something we couldn’t even eat. I definitely don’t recommend this place. Stay away from it!

Enviamos de volta para a cozinha e, quando voltou, percebemos que não era nem uma posta de bacalhau, mas sim, como o garçom explicou, a cabeça do peixe. Não tinha carne nenhuma, apenas partes duras e incomíveis. Sinceramente, as asas de frango têm mais carne do que o que nos foi servido.
Para piorar, o dono não tentou resolver o problema. Em vez de oferecer uma solução, ele me disse que os portugueses preferem comer essa "carcaça" e que eu não sabia qual era a boa parte do peixe. Essa atitude foi extremamente desrespeitosa. Saí do restaurante ainda com fome, tendo pago 50 euros por algo que não conseguimos nem comer. Definitivamente, não recomendo este lugar. Fiquem longe!

En Français: J'ai eu une expérience profondément décevante dans ce restaurant. J'étais vraiment impatient de manger du bacalao à la lagareira, mais lorsque le plat est arrivé, il était cru. Nous l'avons renvoyé en cuisine et, lorsqu'il est revenu, nous avons remarqué que ce n'était même pas un morceau de bacalao, mais plutôt, comme l'a expliqué le serveur, la tête du poisson. The pics of the food in the reviews looked delicious and truly Portuguese and so I was super stoked to try this place However none of that delicious looking food was actually on the menu, all had been specials from past times. So the waitress hurried me into ordering because she was about to take a large parties order and said I have to wait over an hour if I didn’t hurry up and order. So the food, the olives and bread were good one star a piece. And I got a cheese augratin appetizer which was literally just sliced cheese half melted, still in the slices, with some dried oregano sprinkled on top. Then the mixed meat grill, recommended as a specialty. Hmm....French fries, white rice and the thinnest piece of cow I’ve seen with a Portuguese sausage. There was nothing in this meal that required or tasted like any skill had been put into the cooking. Basically all wasted calories. Read moreLittle place next to the not that noisy road. They always have Reservation plate placed on the tables but the tables are free - maybe it is because they want to seat you. We were sitting outside where the atmosphere of vine hanging above your heads will definitely get you. The insides were pretty smelly from the kitchen.
Just to mention, during our visit, there was only one guy serving the whole place so be patient, he is very obliging 🙂
For drinking we went for white and red wine, both very good - menu has no wine card, beers and drinking options but you need to ask, they have pretty much everything (sangria, fanta, sprite etc).
Our choice for starter were clams - amazing stuff. I do recommend that!
Main dish - mix of grilled fishes and the second sea bass, both with whole baked potatoes and boiled broccoli (side dish is included). You can really smell the freshness of fish and real grill from the plate! But be careful with the grilled mix because two out of three fishes where whole package - bones, organs, head, etc.
