The breakfast menu includes both a cold drink and a hot drink, which feels unnecessary—like an easy way to inflate the price rather than a thoughtful addition. • Poached eggs were fine, but the extra spices felt redundant since the hollandaise was served on the side. • Bacon was barely warm and seemed like it had just touched the pan. • Hollandaise sauce wasn’t runny as expected, and additional random spices on top felt out of place. • Brioche didn’t have the texture of brioche, was possibly mixed up with another bread, and was served cold. • Mini cheesy pancake was served cold as well.
It’s a case of quantity over quality—€19 for breakfast should mean a well-thought-out plate, not just a lot of food. Four slices of brioche are excessive when two would be enough, and a full cup of hollandaise feels like lazy plating rather than proper presentation. There’s also an overload of vegetables on the plate when a more balanced, intentional approach would make more sense.
Realistically, this should be priced between €9-12 (€5 for the main, €3 for coffee, €3 for the pancakes).
Service & Atmosphere: The space is cramped, and there’s barely enough room to sit, having to constantly move for people/workers passing by. Service feels unorganized—different people serve the table, making it unclear who’s actually responsible for what.
The lack of a dress code among staff adds to the disorganization. From blue jeans and sweaters to completely different styles of clothing, it feels like random people from the street are serving, making it awkward to even ask for help since it’s unclear who actually works there.
Attention to Detail: • No separate utensils were provided for the dessert, so I had to eat it with the same fork covered in hollandaise and bacon. • The space feels more like a tourist trap than a restaurant, with baggage-holding services and photo services on offer—it’s a business trying to make money in every possible way rather than a place focused on the customer experience.
The Exit Issue: The doors at the entrance/exit are poorly designed. To leave, you have to crouch down and pull a latch—something I’ve never had to do in a restaurant before. On top of that, there are no handles to pull the door shut once you’re outside, so a staff member has to come and close it for you. This was the final impression of the place, and it took it from a passable 2/5 to a 1/5—not because of food safety or extreme issues, but because of an overwhelming lack of care in every aspect, from the menu to the layout to something as basic as properly functioning doors.
The restaurant needs serious changes in food quality, service, business approach, and even the physical design of the space.

Read moreAdorable little cafe that, true to its name, serves up some of the best breakfast and brunch food in Lisbon. I happened across Breakfast Lovers when I was wandering about Lisbon and happened to be feeling a bit peckish just as I saw a super crowded little cafe. Curious what all the hype was about, I popped my head into Breakfast Lovers, and immediately saw why — the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous, with cute pastel wallpaper and vintage china dotting the walls. The elegant white marble tables were delicately decorated with flowers and candles, and the entire shop just felt so cozy and cute, almost like I was paying a visit to my grandmother. As I looked around, the plates looked equally cute and even more delicious; Breakfast Lovers has a wide selection of benedicts, toasts, smoothie bowls, and pastries, all of which are plated up in the most gorgeous way possible. Their portions are also quite large, so I would recommend getting a couple of things to share. My mom and I ended up splitting a mini acai bowl, latte, and one of their signature toasts.
The acai bowl was beautiful, with a variety of fruits (including banana, apple, honeydew, grapes, and mixed berries), and I loved the extra crunch I got from the granola and coconut flakes. It was a little bit watery and a bit lacking in acai, but the fruit was fresh and the presentation lovely. The latte also had some of the most beautiful latte art, and I was grateful that Breakfast Lovers had oat milk (one of the few shops in Lisbon that offer non-dairy milks). The true star of the show was our third item, the earth, sea, and sky toast. It includes two thick, hearty slices of bread topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado mash, pickled onions, tomato, and a perfectly poached egg. It was such a delightful combo of textures and flavors; the cream cheese and pickled onions offered a great tanginess that helped to cut through the richness of the smoked salmon and avocado mash, and the crusty bread was the perfect base to carry all of these soft, mushy ingredients and sop up the leftover yolk that ran out from the poached egg. The tomato and occasional sprigs of lettuce offered a great hit of freshness to balance out how rich and heavy the overall dish is…truly, if you’re hoping for a toast that captures all the classic elements, Breakfast Lovers has...
