Lisbon is a magical city with some incredible people that have made it a great experience for my husband and I. Unfortunately, I really can't say the same for this place. While the selection is delicious, the service, especially from the server we encountered Monday night, is outrageously subpar. Forgot the bare minimum of greeting customers with kindness, we were met with a grumpy person who clearly did not want to be there. Not only that, but my husband later called them to see if he had accidentally left his wallet there, the same person responded with a "yes". This is something we confirmed a few times over the phone.
We took a taxi to rush out to grab his wallet, intending to leave a tip since we thought they were gracious enough to hold it for us. However, when we got there, she looked extremely confused and couldn't even confirm that she had taken our call, even though she said she was the only person working there. During this needless goose chase, my husband also sprained his ankle. Not only that, but the whole time we were conversing with her, she was incredibly rude, and gestured for us to move so she could provide more poor service to the other customers while my husband was mid-sentence. The lack of empathy for our issue combined with possibly the worst service I've experienced in this city really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Please avoid this place and go to the other Ginginha bars just down the street as they provide much better service and a...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible. I took a friend that was visiting and the lady working there was the nastiest we’ve ever experienced. I asked her if she spoke English or Spanish and with a very judgemental attitude she said: no.
In broken Portugues I asked her a little bit more about the history of Ginginha and after calling her attention for a couple of times coz she was just looking at the phone she answered: you can look it up yourself and read it. “It’s made in Lisbon, what else do you wanna know?” My visitor felt terrible, the experience was undesirable, she was rude from the very begging. Never had experienced something like in Portugal, we left very disappointed.
It was a goodbye touch I had prepared for her and now I feel embarrassed coz I took that place. Don’t know who that lady working there is but she clearly doesn’t like to be there.
It ruined the...
Read moreTerrible place! I don't recommend it at all! Ginginha is bad (you can find way better product in less touristic area) but that is not even the issue there! You are in a touristic place, and the waiter didn't have the patience for us. We wanted the chocolate cup and he didn't understand our poor Portuguese (we speak 4 languages but not Portuguese) so he was about to give us the other option. Before he serves the drinks we told him that we wanted the other one, and and he yelled at us that we were not able to decide on a menu of only two options to which we replied that we did not know how to make ourselves understood. He continued to yell at us, we decided to take what he served us and pay so as not to have problems. If you want to be treated as a 5 year old kid, go...
