Italian Republic — Restaurant in Lisbon

One of the more disappointing food experiences in Portugal.

Waitress who served the outdoor seating area was outclassed by the busboy in terms of attention and mood (e.g., rolling her eyes when we asked for a baby chair the second time, rolling her eyes again when we asked her to confirm our order items). A challenge to get drinks. Forgot some requests (e.g., removing ingredients from salad), and then looking annoyed when we pointed it out. From beginning to end it felt as though she didn’t want us there.

Appetizers of salads and crostini were good. Good presentation and ingredients. Enjoyed by all.

Pizza was an absolute miss. Room temperature. Flavor profile off. No question from the staff about the nearly uneaten pie.

And after such a disastrous experience, she “reminded” us that tip was not included (even though it’s not customary to tip in Portugal), and again looked annoyed when we did...

We went here for dinner on February 3rd 2022, at around 19:00. (Av. Duque de Ávila 40c, 1050-083 Lisboa, Portugal) The waiter was arrogant, unfriendly and did not know English, the other staff was also overwhelmed with it. We had to ask for one of the English menus, ok. However, the wine menu was then taken from us, we never received the English version.

The tomato soup was great, but the rest unfortunately only middle-class. The shrimps were not de-veined, which lessened the mood of the meal.

After the annoying stay, we demanded the bill. Before that, two of the waiters tried to force a dessert on us, which we obviously didn't want anymore, since we had already demanded the bill several times. This came afterwards also, however from the next table. Another fail on the part of the waiters. Ridiculous. We were glad when we had left the...

I recently celebrated my wedding at this restaurant and it was an experience I wholeheartedly recommend. Despite a hiccup with my reservation (booked for 7 but needed space for 13), Levi, our gracious host, went above and beyond. He ensured our entire party was seated together in a private, tranquil area.

The food was exquisite, living up to its stellar reputation. Prices were justified, but what truly set this experience apart was the impeccable service. Levi's professionalism and adept handling of unforeseen circumstances left an indelible mark. He effortlessly accommodated two surprise guests, ensuring everyone felt welcome.
