I was strolling through the menu and found a red glass wine particularly interesting, it cost 15€ per glass, so I called the waitress and proceeded to ask if I could see the bottle and also what are the particularly of this wine that make it so expensive per glass, she straight up called me poor, saying that I couldn’t afford the glass, I proceeded to ask why did she made that comment, and she said because “she couldn’t too, so off course I’m shocked by the price”. Interestingly, two guests came in at the same time, requesting to buy a special bottle of red wine, after a short gathering with the same waitress, they left (not too happy with the interaction). Anyway … I ordered a glass of red wine that cost 7€, and I also ordered 4 oysters, this is when she started lecturing me about how I can’t have red wine with oysters! When the oysters arrived (made house style ) with Tabasco sauce and something green on top (good I had red wine) but no problem, I just don’t like it, because I only like oysters with fresh lemon juice, so when the waitress asked me if I liked it, I said no. So a man comes over, and said he overheard that I didn’t like the oysters, so he would take it out of my bill, I thanked him, but I didn’t find it necessary. However, when I asked for the bill, the oysters were actually included (no problem) but, it was not what he said! Nevertheless, the environment is good! I probably, won’t...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about this place. We were walking down the streets of Lisbon and decided to stop by this cute wine bar. It's small and intimate with high ceilings, adorning bottles of wine on the walls from the floor all the way up to the top. Woods and beams galore. Great vibe. We were greeted by the hostess who was very sweet and offered for us to sit. The owner Pedro came over and began chatting. We're not huge wine drinkers but we love champagne. Pedro decided to present us with a special reserve bottle from the back, that wasn't on the menu. He pondered a moment and came up with a price off the top of his head as it wasn't for normally for sale. $40 for the most exotic and unique champagne i've ever had. Pedro loves his craft. He's not doing this for the money. You can tell he loves what he does and he loves people. We ended up stopping by here a 2nd time during our trip to see Pedro and we will forever stop by anytime we're in Lisbon. This place is an absolute gem of an establishment. If you like wine even a little bit, Nova is a MUST VISIT. It's an amazing place that's owned and staffed by awesome people. Thanks for the hospitality Pedro, can't wait...
