Anna, was very pleasant and helpful. Provided tips and ordered taxi. |It was my mistake entirely for not reading up thoroughly on the apartments, didn’t like the fact that the room wasn’t tidied up daily. ||Positives:||1. Location, definitely, a great one in the Old Town. |2. Proximity to countless Baixa station, cafes, restaurants and pastelerias. |3. Beds are comfortable. |4. Pressure of water is great.||Negatives:||1. Pillows not fresh, used smell the through the clean covers. |2. Kitchen, totally impractical. The cabinets are jutting out almost as much as the counter below, which meant I banged my head a few times trying to wash mugs etc. till I got the hang of it. |3. Bathroom was a DISASTER. | *There was mouldy edges, very off putting. | *There was silicone sealant missing from the edges, which | flooded the bathroom after a shower. | *The bracket that holds the hand held shower was loose, | making it difficult to fit in the shower head on the desired | angle.| *The basin was tiny, although there was enough space to | fit in a decent size with vanity area. Every time we washed | hands or brushed teeth we wet our feet. | * Empty minibar, only menu card given with rates, didn’t | understand the concept. |4. Very little space to go around the bed. ||Tight space can be lived with but unsightly and impractical bathroom and useless kitchen has to...
Read moreThis is not really a hotel, but rather an apartment building converted to lofts. The location is on a narrow street and not too easy to find. The loft we were in was on the first floor (which is actually a second floor). There is an elevator, but to get to it, there are 2 flights of stairs off the main entrance that for some may be difficult to navigate, especially with luggage. Our unit had a tiny eating area with a small couch, sink, stove and mini-fridge. This was perfect as we could get a few things from a nearby grocery store (groceries in Lisbon are incredibly cheap!) and have a light breakfast in the room. The bathroom had a lot of space, but little storage area. There was dust collected on the wall near the fan area (I would have expected the cleaning stuff to see and clean it). Shower was adequate. The internet is free, but is stopped working in our unit after the first day and we needed to use the internet for another unit.||||The manager (Ana) who checked us in is very nice. Since there is really no front desk, if you need to reach her, you need to use the buzzer outside of the main entrance.||||The location in the city is great, close to the river/commercial square and a couple of blocks away from the...
Read moreOur room was compact and had a very pictorial balcony - lots of apart-hotels in Portugal seem to have a balcony, which was a cute aspect of the stay. We liked that there was an in-person check-in office when we arrived, who also let us store our luggage before and after check-in.
My main complaint was that the whole place had a vague stench of human feces while we were there that seemed to be coming from the taps. When we asked the hotel they said it was because in Chiado the sewage system is not good and in hot weather it will smell - we were there in September so it wasn’t nearly as hot, but it still was an issue apparently.
The hotel sprayed some industrial-smelling room freshener in our room after we complained, which unfortunately gave me a splitting headache, and we had to air it out even further. I would just recommend bringing your own room spray to alleviate the sewage stench, if you are sensitive to smells
FWIW, we stayed in another apart-hotel called Lisbon Serviced Apartments - Estrella after this, and there was no sewage smell there. Obviously Chiado is a very central and convenient place to stay, but next time we would rather go somewhere else with more space...
