If you're looking for a place in Baixa where you can enjoy traditional Portuguese food without the Instagram filters and Michelin-star prices, this little spot delivers exactly what it promises: solid, no-frills cooking at a price that borders on the miraculous â unless you're from Alabama or Texas and think Olive Garden is authentic European cuisine.
Let me spell it out for the terminally confused tourists leaving angry reviews: yes, the bread, olives, and cheese that appear on your table aren't free. This is not a scam, itâs how Portugal works. If you don't want them, say no thank you. But crying about it online because you don't understand how to use your mouth for anything but whining? That's on you.
I had a bacalhau Ă Minhota, two draft beers, and a coffee. Total: 17 euros. In the U.S., that wouldn't even get you a soggy Big Mac meal and a watery coffee, let alone a sit-down meal in a historic European capital. But of course, if your culinary standards start and end at Cracker Barrel, I can see how a perfectly cooked salted cod dish might confuse and offend you.
Service? Efficient. Atmosphere? Authentic. Price? Ridiculously fair. If youâre after silver cloches and waiters massaging your ego, go to a rooftop tourist trap and enjoy your 45⏠chicken breast. But if you actually want to experience Portugal the way locals do, and you have at least two functioning taste buds and a sense of context, this place is more than worth your time.
To sum it up: honest food, fair price, clueless tourists â unfortunately, only the last part seems...

We arrived and asked for food and drinks. The person serving us was being particularly difficult and we decided to cancel our order. He cancelled it. In French we clearly said they were being difficult and we did not understand why. Which we could have said in Russian... Any camera, voice record or else capturing their premises will confirm this. He knew that, mumbling he suggested we did not have to pay. We insisted to pay for the drinks.
We paid for the drinks, although we did not consume anything. Not that this will make a differece in our bank account...
His colleague, we are not really sure where he surfaced from (we will refer to as the "heavier" and disrespectfull fellow started to swear at us, and threatened to attack us (we wanted to call the police), saying we should go to work to know the value of money. Funny đ€Łenough we have been working for longer than he has been alive ("youngsters are special").
No respect for customers, in 5 minutes he swore at us, our parents and everyone else he could think of inhabitating the earth... This man should be in jail not with customers...he is too aggravated to serve people. He calls himself the manager " Mr. Andre Afonso ".
Red card âđ to this restaurant...red đŽcard to this manager... Big ups to Lisbon restaurants, we had an awesome and...
Read moreBest way to describe it is they are crooks as a previous reviewer described them. They bring you bread, small bites and butter which they charge you for all. They never explained that it is not complementary. All they want is your money, be very careful going into this place. They also add a service charge which i have not seen anywhere in Europe unless it is a high end restaurant. They brought us bread which was 1euro each Butter which they charge at 1euro each Brought us 6 pieces of croquettes at 1euro each And cheese as well which was 4euros All those little things that we thought it was completely added another 30euros to the bill When we asked the waitress he said you didnât have to eat it, very dishonest bringing food to the table without any warning or previous explanation. Unfortunately, they screen tourist and see who they can take advantage of and this time it was my group. Looking at other tables they didnât bring any extra bites or things we thought were complementary. At least, I refused to pay the service fee and they took it off the bill. Very disappointing but I guess thatâs they way they make their money as...
