It's a lot of indian (non Goan) food (biryanis and vegetable dishes and more), but there are plent y of Goan dishes - almost all the fish dishes are authentically Goan. The music was some sort of indian house music - annoyingly repetitive to my ear. It is a small place, not fancy, but very comfortable and the food is decent. We had the ambotik. The flavor of the dish was ok, but it was made with dogfish (which I had never had). Dogfish is described elsewhere as 'plentiful and sometimes used for food' - and I can see why. It is mostly bones and what isn't bone isn't very nice. The balchao tasted spicy but not like other balchao I've had. Maybe that's just me. Either way - neither dish was anything to write home about. The bajias were great and the service was prompt. But don't form your opinion of Goan food from here - it can be much much...
Read moreAs a Goan I went out looking for Goan cuisine nearby nearby our boarding and I happened to come across this restaurant named Tentagoes de Goa. I happened to take Pork Vindaloo and chicken xacutti. However I was taken by surprise as I opened the container at my apartment. The food was not even near to the authentic Goan style. Vindaloo was made of cumin and pepper masala and the xacutti simply made out of garam masala. The worst part was the quantity which was not not even the quarter of the container. Not enough for even one serving. It seemed like someone's leftover. The price didn't justify the quality and quantity. Worst experience of a life time. Hope there was negative rating that I could use to describe them. Anyways be careful if you come across this restaurant. Not...
Read moreThe Goan bread was a tortilla/naan hybrid that was a great vessel to try their pickled veggies/spreads (coriander was awesome, mango was light spicy and great, lemon was crazy bitter, eggplant-aubergine was pretty spicy). The Goan chicken curry was tender and tasty over warm basmati rice. Service was quick, attentive, and polite as they also explained these dishes to us in more than passable English. They were very kind to two young-ish Americans that needed a break from Portuguese food for a night. I’d go back and probably will, since it’s two buildings from our...
