The interior of The Monarch is gorgeous. Every detail has been meticulously crafted to create an atmosphere that exudes class and elegance. What truly sets The Monarch apart, however, is their commitment to customer satisfaction. During my visit, I had a specific cocktail in mind that wasn’t listed on the menu. While the bar initially didn’t have all the required ingredients, their staff went above and beyond to accommodate my request. I was asked for a brief moment of patience, and in just 10 minutes, my “caprice” was presented before me. This level of dedication and willingness to go the extra mile left a lasting impression.

It’s evident that The Monarch is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by public. I wish that over time more people will have the opportunity to experience the magic of this bar. A classy little cocktail bar that is tucked away just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the Time Out Market and all the bars and restaurants in Cais do Sodre.

We came here on a recommendation from another Lisbon bartender, and it was a pleasant experience. Despite being a sophisticated looking place, it has a casual, relaxed feeling that invites you in. There's no pretentiousness here.

The day we tried, they were out of some of the menu due to a really busy night before, and I understand that happens at these small, independent bars that make their own infusions and batches. It was okay, because they have a decent backbar and were able to get all the classics we asked for. The cocktails we tried from the menu were good and solid, but didn't exactly wow. But they're definitely better than a lot of cocktail bars I've been to in Europe. Simple and classy, but with a flavour complexity that is still interesting. You'll find creations here that are very unique.

What a great hidden gem in Lisbon. My fiancé and I stumbled upon this unassuming spot on the way back home from dinner to our Airbnb and could not be happier with our experience. The cocktails and general vibe were just great. Everyone that worked there was extremely friendly and the owner of the establishment was very knowledgeable about his craft and execution of his vision. Was such an unexpected and excellent way to spend an evening in Lisbon and we can’t wait to spend tomorrow evening sampling more of their unique creations. Also - for those of you that might like lighter, sweeter, or fizzy cocktails - the owner is a certified Fizz-assist, creating really great, unique, one of a kind fizzy drinks that are really out of this world.
