In one of my wonders in the city of Porto during a welcoming spring weather I came cross C'alma coffee right after spending hours at fnac looking for my next book adventure, and for my delightful surprise I’ve realized how cosy the place was.
They say “slowcoffee” which can give the feeling that this little coffee shop in the middle of downtown is a lot more than a grab and go situation, we’re looking at a coffee room where you can actually spend a good time, either studying, reading a book, working or just simply slowly enjoying an amazing coffee sash, which happens to be my next topic.
The coffee. I could spend a good time looking for the words to describe their coffee, but I’m not quite sure if I’d be able to find the correct word to describe the experience that is to drink this beyond delicious coffee (I have only tried their milk double espresso as off this note) and the first thing that comes to my mind as off now is “inspiration”.
Almost like the many tons of the coffee flavor mixed with the ambience and the delicious classic music playing in the background makes this little coffee room an inspiration. I felt inspired to just bring my computer here and focus on a hard work, inspired to spend hours deep on my readings, inspired to write for hours.
I can’t wait to be back here many more times, and try other options of coffee they have.I was completely sold to their double espresso + milk I have to confess, sold to the idea of an amazing summer to come and a delicious coffee...
Read moreWe visited C'alma on a food tour as our first stop for espresso and a pastry. Everything about it from its ambiance, to the custom wooden boards they serve with, and the incredibly warm and welcoming team was just incredible. We planned to go back at the end of our trip and so we did and purchased their espresso blend and one of their wooden serving boards. The barista was kind enough to grind the beans for me. And every night when we were back home my husband and I enjoyed shots of espresso. We soon ran out and hoped that we would be able to order more. We are from the USA so we reached out via instagram and asked if this would be possible. They were very responsive and bent over backwards to send us two bags of our new favorite blend - one of the baristas was visiting the US and brought them in their suitcase with them and shipped it in the US to make it as easy as possible for us! To say the service is amazing is an understatement. I wish I could visit C'alma everyday and we hope we will be back in person one day. A...
Read moreThe place for coffee aficionados. Specialty coffees are expertly brewed to perfection. You enter a large building, head up a short flight of stairs and turn right into the coffee room. Without knowing the history of this location, I would guess it may have been a hotel or private facility at one time, and the remains of an indoor fountain can still be seen on the wall next to the counter area. The space is not large and contains only a handful of small tables, including a banquet with four or five small tables set up with individual power outlets for nomad workers and some stools and counters set up by the very large windows overlooking Rua de Passos Manuel. C'alma quickly became our daily go-to place for our afternoon coffee breaks. Friendly service, great prices (3 euro for a double cappuccino, late March 2022). Highly...
