I visited for their sushi and dim sum night, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food lacked freshness, as it felt like everything had been pre-made in large batches rather than made to order. The fried egg rolls and other sides seemed to have been prepared long in advance and simply kept in a warmer until ordered.

Given the reputation of the JW Marriott, I expected much more from its restaurants. What made the experience worse was the poor customer service. Despite a large staff being present, they appeared disorganized and inattentive, leaving us with the impression that they were actively ignoring us. We had to approach the hostess stand several times just to get assistance.

The worst part is that I feel like they know that their set menu for sushi night needs to be revamped, however, they’re choosing not to spend the time and effort to do so.

It’s rare for me to not finish a dessert, but I don’t know what on earth that green and white thing pictured below was. The outside was a creamy in flavorful wax, and the inside. . . I honestly don’t know what was in the inside, but one bite was more than enough to tell that there was no need for me to finish eating it, it wasn’t worth the calories.

The sushi and dim sum night is 199 QR, and can be used with MyBook B1G1.

Honestly, given the quality of food and lack of customer service, it is not worth the 199 for two people.

I’ve had better sushi from Carrefour, and it’s self serve so there’s...

Went there for Monday night sushi and dim sum all-you-can eat, which we had heard great things about and looked forward to. Unfortunately, we were heavily disappointed. Worst sushi we have had in Qatar - cold and tasteless. Staff with lack of knowledge and bad service in general. This place is not worth your time and money, given all the other great options in Doha.

Positives: Great atmosphere Fantastic views of Westbay

Negatives: Menu had food allergy markings, but was incorrect. A lot of Dim Sum and Sushi pieces clearly with gluten had no gluten marking. When asking the waiter, she had absolutely no idea what gluten was (example: she thought sesame seeds had gluten) and had a very limited English, making it hard to communicate Further, the kitchen had pre-made the sushi rolls using soy sauce containing gluten, and we had to argue with the waiter to make the kitchen make new fresh sushi rolls for us without using soy sauce. For a dinner at QAR 199 per person, that should not be necessary, especially when there was only 3 other persons in the restaurant. Quite unnecessary When the food finally came, the dim sum was half-cold and the sushi ice-cold. The sushi did not taste anything, and was by far the worst sushi we have had in Doha. The fish was stiff, with no taste

All in all, probably the worst overall dining experience in Doha. I expected much more from a fancy restaurant at the top of a...

Exceptional Dining Experience with an Outstanding Team!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shanghai Club, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, but what truly made the evening special was the extraordinary team of staff members who went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality. Our server, Rhea, was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and had great recommendations that made our meal even better. They were always nearby when needed but never intrusive, striking the perfect balance.

The manager, Sercan, Navin, and Igier the supervisors, also made a point to check in with us, making us feel valued and appreciated. It’s rare to see a team that works so seamlessly together, and it’s clear that everyone here takes pride in what they do.

Special mention to the kitchen staff as well – every dish was prepared to perfection and beautifully presented. You can tell that there is a lot of passion and skill behind each plate that comes out of the kitchen.

Overall, the team at Shanghai Club made our dining experience extraordinary. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for not just a meal, but an experience where you feel truly cared for by an outstanding group of people. We can’t...

I had high expectations for Shanghai Club at JW Marriott West Bay, Great view of westbay but unfortunately, my experience was nothing short of disappointing. First and foremost, the **customer service was an absolute disgrace**. The staff seemed uninterested, inattentive, and far from the level of professionalism you would expect from a high-end establishment. From the moment we arrived, we felt neglected, and getting any assistance was a struggle. It was as if they were doing us a favor by serving us. The **food was underwhelming at best**. Given the premium pricing, I expected authentic, flavorful dishes, but what I got was bland and unimpressive. There was nothing memorable or worth raving about—just overpriced, mediocre food that failed to justify its cost. Speaking of pricing, **everything was ridiculously expensive** for what was offered. I don’t mind paying for quality, but when the service is terrible, the food is average, and the overall experience is lackluster, it just feels like a waste of money. I left feeling highly **disappointed** and **won’t be returning**. I definitely **do not recommend** this place—there are far better restaurants in Doha that actually deliver on quality, service, and value for money. Shanghai Club needs a serious overhaul if it wants to live up to its reputation. Don’t order the beef dumplings

Recently my friend and I came for the Sushi & Dim Sum Monday with high hopes — the atmosphere is great and the view of the city is beautiful. But the food was shockingly bad. The dim sum was almost inedible: beef dumplings were raw inside, and the vegetable ones had weird taste. The spring rolls were tasteless. The sushi looked like sushi from a supermarket fridge with overcooked sticky rice. Also poor dish presentation. The waiter didn’t seem to understand what was wrong and instead suggested we order from the à la carte menu. What does that even mean? That the brunch food is intentionally mediocre, and if we want anything decent, we’re expected to pay extra? That’s unacceptable. We called for a manager to express our concerns, but unfortunately manager was busy. We couldn’t eat this food and just left. Honestly, one year ago I was here and sushi were amazing, I don’t know what happened. We truly hoped this place would become one of our regular spots, but sadly, the food experience was very disappointing.
