I really wanted to like this place, went there with quite high hopes.
To start off, I asked if possible to get a classic espresso martini. The answer was straight out no, even though they had some sort of a sweeter espresso martini on the menu, containing also all the ingredients a classic one would have…
The food menu is some sort of a mix between a set menu and a la carte. You can get the chefs special (filet mignon at the time when we were dining there) at a separate price than the fixed menu. However, when I asked for a portion of potatoes as a side dish.. once more the answer was that it’s not possible. Ok, cool, I guess I’ll just have my filet mignon.
Before serving up the food, they asked if any dietary restrictions should be considered, I thought that was a nice touch!
The “on the house” appetizers were tasty. The rest, very overrated. The fried mussels presented nicely, but kinda tasteless. The filet mignon cooked medium rare but once it arrived, it was too dark to even see what’s on my plate. After trying to catch their attention to see if it’s normal that there’s zero light on this table… with no luck, I gave up. Well, a mini lamp arrived after we finished dinner.
To be honest, they are trying to bring fine dining to Cluj, but with the above average prices they are charging… there’s a lot left up for desire.
Giving it 2 stars for the presentation of the food and for the nice setting on the...
Read moreI’ve always loved their first location and their selection of meats and seafood, so I was excited to try this second, more refined restaurant of theirs. First of all, the service was alright, our waitress was nice. Secondly, the seasonal menu is fairly priced, the texture and combinations of the ingredients and final products were good. Unfortunately, there were a few minuses, which I am now spotting here and there within other reviews or opinions. The bathroom was not properly cleaned and there’s quite a difference in portions from person to person, which can leave some people feeling offended or “less than”. Dining, and especially fine dining, which Cimbru Author is leaning towards, means crafting an entire experience for the guests with the intention of leaving them inspired, impressed and cared for and in my experience this was not entirely the case here. However, I’m not giving up on this restaurant, I do believe it has great potential and ability to be among the...
Read moreIf you want to take your taste buds out for a treat :) , you should try this place! They have a different menu every week with vegan option for every course. You can combine 2 or 3 courses from the menu. The starters are also a delight, with a very creamy house made butter. I really liked that the waiter was very attentive to our requests and even offered to replace the amouse bouche with a vegetarian option (the original was with rabbit meat). Compliments to the chef for the dishes and especially for the way he combined the ingredients so that they complement each other! The pear desert was so amazing that we asked for another one! We especially liked it wasn't to sweet, so that you can taste the original flavor of the ingredients. A good array of drinks, including digestives and sustainable drinking water (still and sparkling).
I deffinetly recommend!
P. S. : not the best light for food...
