Definitely a lil rocky getting here. I asked the peopleat the ticket booth if there were any free seats at the restaurant for lunch and to help me call them because I had issues with my SIM. The guy was very rude and unhelpful, shrugging and insisting theres ‘nothing he could do’. Not even help make a phone call to the restaurant a few meters away. 🙄
Luckily i managaed to borrow a friends phone and secured a seat at the restaurant. At first they (apolagetically) put me in the sun with a fantastic view, but it was unbearable hot. Luckily i was able to move into the shade later but i suggest putting a few umbrellas + putting more tables as there was alot of unused space outside. There were only 3 servers and they seemed quite busy. The food, hence, took a while to arrive but the server was always very apologetic and kind despite the heat and hustle. The food itself is abit pricey (as expected for a tourist location), but worth! The small appetizer of bandelc has to be one of the best pastries ive eaten. The butter was so smooth and flavorful. The chilled tomato soup hit the spot on a hot day (10/10). The veal and hot goat was interesting! Definitely alot of contrasting flavors so my palette was definitely abit confused. I think it couldve done without the cranberry or the fruit as both offer a citrusy/acidic taste to cut thru the meat. (7.5/10). The cake was good! Came on the house as the waiter forgot it, which was a nice gesture (8/10) Overall, spectacular views and surprisingly good food and pleasant service for a tourist place. Just make sure to...
Read moreTook a visit to the restaurant during "The week of restaurants". Unfortunately, the visit hasn't gone as expected. First, they lost our reservation in the system (I had the confirmation on email), but they quickly assigned us to a free table. The food was very good until the main course, where the so called slowly baked pork ribs already came smelling lightly burnt. Obviously, the top and bottom of the ribs got toasted a bit too much, far away of being baked slowly - it was hard to cut through with the knife and needed a bit too much of the persuation (chewing) in the mouth. Ok, it happens... BUT.. if the waiter asks if all was ok, an answer of Yes should not be taken for granted... I said no, the ribs were overroasted, but there was no response from the waiter, nothing... Then the second waiter did the same when I asked for the bill... I could only imagine what would Luka say if he was served by such dish. Looking back, we should have requested a new set of ribs...
I have had this experience twice at Jezeršek chain (once at 'Dvor Jezeršek' and this time at Bled castle) and nowhere else. I am concluding that this is not an exception anymore and will avoid Jezeršek...
Read more(Good advice at the bottom of the review) ;) Let me straight up give some good news to anyone who is hasitant about the gourmet dishes. The portions are way better than they seem. And for anyone else whos here for some fine dining, this place delivers. They have wide options to choose from and they all gave a unique experience to our taste buds. The Waiters also explain each plate with very fine details - its just a little extra to make it special. The view from the restaurant is extraordinary thanks to the huge windows. For thst reason I would suggest a daytime visit for sure. And heres a little inside advice. The price of the restaurant is a little higher than avarage around the city but i guess this to be expected due to the location and the quality of the service. But let me save you some money. The castle has an entry fee of €15 but if you make a reservation at the restaurant then youre in for free. So with that in mind the cost of the restaurant is actually not bad. I can only advise you not to miss this deal if youre visiting lake Bled. So enjoy and have a...
