Balthazar Restaurant — Restaurant in Upravna Enota Ljubljana

This is without any doubt the worst restaurant in all Ljubljana, we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our food, we asked for spinach 5 times and just after the fifth the waiter came to say it was not available, at the end we went to talk to the owner to tell her about the service and at the begging she said sorry but just after 10 minutes of talking the waiter came with a very rude temperament to tell us to pay everything either cash or card, we asked gently the owner if we could pay all cash and only one person with card that didn’t had any cash with him and she refused and we said honestly we expected at least to give us a discount for the terrible service and she said she was going to call the police.

You can imagine what kind of restaurant this is just by looking at the 3.6 average reviews and this reviews Im just writing.

Such a shame because the food at the end was not bad and the place is nice but the service and the owner is the worst I’ve seen in my whole life.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at your restaurant. After searching for an hour, we decided to sit down at your place, but the service and food were a big letdown. We paid too much money for a salad (with tomatos and cucumbers, thought its gonna be more for a seasonal salad) and Ćevapčići with fries – way too expensive for the poor quality of the food. The salad and the meat were nothing like what we expected. It tasted so bad that we were seriously worried about our health.

In addition, we had to wait about 20 minutes for the bill, even though we asked multiple times. Then there was an unexplained charge of 6 euros for something in Slovenian. When we asked about it, the waiter, in a terrible mood, said it was for freshly washed bed sheets and dishes. Honestly, it’s outrageous to charge for something like that.

To top it all off, we were also charged for the bread that was just placed on our table without us ordering it. Overall, the price-performance ratio was terrible, and we definitely cannot recommend...

My husband and I have been travelling through Europe for the past two weeks. We have eaten at several top restaurants in Amsterdam, Prague and Vienna and we have to say Balthazar was one of the best meals we’ve had to date. My husband had the aged T-bone steak with a side of roast vegetables. I had the sea bass with cauliflower purée and caramelised baby carrots. Absolutely delicious. My sea bass was cooked to perfection with a divine crispy skin. The cauliflower purée was smooth and delicate, but full of flavour. The carrots sweet and tender but still had crunch. We finished our meal with the cheesecake and homemade apple pie. My husband hasn’t been a fan of cheesecake for many years but was converted with this one. My apple pie had big chunks of apple wrapped in a wonderfully robust crust (not to thick or heavy). Our wait staff was incredibly warm and friendly, and happily helped our with our menu choices.
