Wine Bar Šuklje — Restaurant in Upravna Enota Ljubljana

This review is for the service, which we never got. Maybe we came on an off day (03 June 2023) but we could not get any service. There were three empty tables outside so we went in and waited and waited for service while three served just stared at us. Finally we flagged someone down and asked to sit and she said all the tables outside were reserved. Sat at a inside table and still no one ever came to us. The rude blonde woman with white apron walked by us and gave us a face that needed fixing, never brought us a menu so I got up and got my own menu. Again she walked by us several times and never offered to take our order. And the inside was completely empty no other customers. Finally we decided to leave, walked outside to find the three wait staff having a chat and playing on their cell phones. And BTW the reserved tables were still empty. Zero zero zero for service. Staff uninterested. Avoided all eye contact and any attempt to actually serve us. Avoid. The owner contacted me after posting this review asking for more information. There is no obvious means of reply other than here. Reading other reviews it appears theee is a common problem here. I work on hospitality and it pains me to see anywhere lose sales because their staff would rather be doing anything else than actually serve you. Dry glasses, clear tables, chat for ages with other car whilst others sit at empty tables patiently waiting. It is unprofessional and is costing that business money as we simply walked off, as I assume did the people before us whose name the table was reserved in for 18.00, and it was 18.20 when we arrived. As you asked, you may wish to send the shortish young lady waitress for some serious training in customer service. ...

I don't have enough superlatives to fully describe our experiences at Wine Bar Suklje. We stopped by several times during our recent trip to Ljubljana. Its was our first time in Slovenia, our first time enjoying Slovenian wines (which are very good), and obviously our first time at what must be considered the best wine bar in Ljubljana. The wines, food and atmosphere were perfect each time we visited. The value is outstanding when compared with similar American American wine bars. The service provided by each and every staff member was simply outstanding. All are extremely knowledgeable about wine in general and veritable experts on Slovenian wines - and we now consider them friends.
