On a rare break from caring for my parents, I managed to get down to Umhlanga. Having practically been raised there, Umhlanga has a special place in my heart and the Village has grown into a lovely city. I managed to drag my cousin out, who lives in Umhlanga, but rarely goes out. We started our ventures at the George with a couple of beverages. Whilst sitting enjoying them, I decided to look at their specials and I am glad I did. I decided to try the Chicken Schnitzel with chips and I am glad I did. The schnitzel was tender and juicy and hot as were the chips. It came with a beverage which my cousin had. The service was friendly and very good, with more than one waiter/tres, serving us and checking that we were OK or needed something. Makes a world of difference when staff gel as a team and know what they are doing and love doing it! I will certainly be back there soon. I have attached a couple of Pictures, which should be self...

The George is always busy. If you are going for a quiet lunch don't think that peace is what you'll get... However, wanna watch the game with your mates, have a ladies or gents night out, randomly bump into the locals who you've know since school days... Then the George is the place to be. On the side of the village, this little pub has a great reputation for being the main local hangout... It has that reputation for a reason, The food is great, like really yummy food :D and hanging with friends having a fun time always makes a weekend awesome. Definitely 5 stars...

I had this issue a few months ago, whereby the aggressive manager on duty told me in no uncertain terms that the waitress will pay in the difference (They apparently hadn't updated their menu prices as yet as to what their till charges) . Today I have had the same discussion with the Owner ! when I raised my complaint, he responded.. you have had this issue before..yes ... a few months ago! How can you advertise a carafe of wine at R38, charge R47 and say they haven't updated the menu .. like ordering a steak at R100 and you get a bill for R150 ..... check your...

Unfortunately had a very dreadful experience at George’s. The drinks were promising but nothing above average and although the food tasted decent, however slightly oily and filling we continued our experience. Only to find when we got home we had all contracted food poisoning from the fried platters. The food poisoning continued for 3 days. Would not recommend eating there and wasting your health and medical resources.
